Job Description:
The Global Pricing Consultant (GPC) provides software pricing and costing analysis to the sales team. The GPC work is done in a primarily reactive environment, and may require the coordination of multiple requests simultaneously, often with fast turnaround times. Additionally, the GPC must be comfortable with a Global market, including working with cross functional and pursuit teams in different time zones and with different currencies and exchange.
The GPC collaborates with Sales, Pre-Sales, Professional Services and Product Management to develop compelling and competitively positioned enterprise software pricing proposals. The ability to understand multiple product solution offerings, pricing concepts (e.g., margin protection, price waterfall, price levers), markets, legacy deals and pricing offerings is necessary as the Pricing Consultant is expected to provide guidance and insight to the pursuit team. The GPC also maintains a good knowledge of associated corporate processes, including the management of contracts, order forms, and maintenance renewals, and develops relationships with other specialists who are concerned with pricing, such as members of the professional services, legal, finance, and purchasing departments.
The functions of the job are as follows:
- Plays a key role in achieving and exceeding the company’s annual bookings objectives.
- Guides Sales in following corporate practices to protect Hitachi Energy business objectives and values.
- Works with Customer Service Organization and Product Management to determine product and project scope in order to produce high quality pricing proposals as part of the Proposal Team to prepare competitive bids and supporting documentation using standardized tools and processes.
- Coordinates with sales teams to capture customer requirements and determine sales strategy.
- Leads, facilitates and drives meetings with key stakeholders, including senior level management, for pricing development.
- Ability to analyze and communicate value-based pricing strategies.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned or apparent.
- Provide a Simple Price Template upon request to Sales.
Knowledge, Skills, and Ability Required:
- Undergraduate degree from an accredited university or college.
- 3 years technology (software focus) industry experience with RFx/Pricing, sales, marketing or product focus preferred.
- Strong interpersonal skills to facilitate inter-departmental meetings, deliverable management, meetings with senior management and coaching of Sales staff.
- Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills
- Strong Microsoft Excel, Word, SharePoint and Office 365 capabilities.
- Familiarity with the use and function of Salesforce.com or other CRM applications
- Able to work with minimal supervision; detail oriented; business acumen and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of the Utility and Mining industries desirable
- Ability to self-manage workload under tight deadlines with multiple dependencies.
- Strong organizational skills and ability to adhere to corporate practices and policies.
