Iron Mountain is seeking an experienced and strategic Global Payroll & Finance Project Manager to join our Global Payroll Centre of Excellence team for a 6-month fixed-term position.
In this role, you will be responsible for designing and establishing the processes, controls, success metrics, and stakeholder engagement model to ensure accurate, compliant recording of payroll expenses and liabilities in our financial systems, while minimizing risk through a proactive, risk-based approach to European tax compliance.
You will join a newly established, collaborative global team dedicated to bridging the gap between Global Payroll and Finance, driving operational excellence across the organization.
What You’ll DoIn this role, you will:
Project Planning & Lifecycle Management: Build and maintain comprehensive project plans, track critical milestones, and proactively mitigate financial and operational risks in the payroll-to-general ledger pipeline.
Financial Process Design & General Ledger Integration: Design seamless post-payroll financial processes, document protocols between Information Technology, Finance, and Payroll, and partner with teams to ensure absolute data integrity between the payroll engine and the Enterprise Resource Planning system.
Compliance & Stakeholder Management: Document European regulatory requirements for all post-payroll tax filings, statutory notifications, and related payments while clarifying clear roles and responsibilities across stakeholder groups.
Program Performance & Success Metrics: Establish and track Key Performance Indicators—such as reductions in late general ledger file postings and error rates—and present health and accuracy dashboards to senior leadership.
The ideal candidate will have:
5+ years of experience in Project Management specifically within Payroll Accounting or Payroll Finance.
Strong knowledge of end-to-end payroll cycles and general payroll accounting principles, including accruals, reconciliations, and journal entries.
Regional Expertise: Direct experience managing payroll financial processes within Europe and navigating European regulatory compliance.
Project Tooling: Proficiency in a project management software to manage complex, multi-phase rollouts.
Strategic Leadership: Proven ability to act as an architect of new processes, defining operational excellence and building structured roadmaps from the ground up.
