Position Purpose:
At Sandoz, Legal & Compliance enables our global teams to act with integrity while delivering access to high-quality medicines worldwide. In this role, you will provide global legal support for People & Organization (P&O) legal topics and support Trade Sanctions Legal, while helping to build a strong Legal & Compliance capability in the Hyderabad GCC.
You will translate complex legal questions into clear, pragmatic and defensible business decisions and contribute to a scalable, audit-ready legal operating model. This is a global role with broad exposure across legal topics and stakeholders, combining legal expertise, business partnering and operational discipline to support a scalable Legal & Compliance model.
Your Key Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities include, but not limited to:
- Provide global P&O Legal support, including legal triage, support on reorganizations, disputes, disciplinaries and separation documentation, as well as management of external counsel.
- Support Trade Sanctions Legal through structured case support (research, file building, evidence packs and internal drafting) and monitoring support in coordination with global sanctions owners.
- Draft high-quality legal opinions using structured reasoning (issues → rules → interpretation → application → conclusion), including counterarguments and risk-based options.
- Translate legal analysis into decision-ready business guidance (options, risks, mitigations, recommendations) enabling fast and defensible decisions.
- Manage India external counsel engagements, including scope definition, instruction letters, budget discipline, deliverable review and matter tracking.
- Build and maintain playbooks, templates and standards to ensure consistency, scalability and audit readiness.
- Act as a coordination point for Hyderabad Legal & Compliance topics and route matters to the appropriate global functional owners. Collaborate across functions, geographies and time zones to ensure aligned, high-quality and compliant outcomes.
- Drive continuous improvement by converting recurring issues into standardized approaches, guidance and training.
- Key Success Factors: Strong legal reasoning and interpretation skills with the ability to deliver structured, defensible conclusions. Ability to translate complex legal topics into clear and actionable business guidance. Strong stakeholder management and communication skills across geographies. High level of ownership, pragmatism and execution discipline.
What you’ll bring to the role:
Essential Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in law (LLB or equivalent) from a recognized university; LLM preferred.
Qualified lawyer with Bar Exam cleared and active license to practice in at least one jurisdiction (mandatory)
Minimum 10+ years of post-qualification experience in legal roles, ideally combining: In-house legal experience within a multinational organization and/or Experience with a top-tier law firm.
Demonstrated global / multi-country legal experience supporting stakeholders across regions, with strong exposure to cross-border legal and compliance frameworks
Experience in compliance / regulatory areas, such as Trade Sanctions, investigations, or related domains, including legal research, analysis, and case support
Strong stakeholder management and communication skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate effectively across: Business leaders, HR / People & Organization (P&O) teams, Global Legal and Compliance colleagues.
