The opportunity
BU Transformers is looking for an HSE Specialist who will serve as the primary point of contact between R&D, Engineering and Quality Functions with HSE Function, providing expert guidance on Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) matters, collecting and sharing good and best practices and following up on effective close out of improvement actions/ projects. This role will focus on hazard identification and risk assessment across activities and projects, ensuring that safety considerations are integrated into all stages of development and operations.
In addition, the HSE Specialist will analyze information from HSE incidents to coordinate lessons learned and define, implement, and monitor improvement actions. These actions will target products and work processes that can benefit from enhancements driven by R&D, Engineering, or Quality initiatives.
Requested by the R&D team, this position will support projects involving Global Product Groups (GPGs) and Engineering, while also delivering essential HSE training.
How you’ll make an impact
- Act as a bridge between HSE and R&D, Engineering, and Quality, the HSE Specialist will ensure effective knowledge transfer, corrective actions, and continuous improvement following incidents or identified gaps.
- Support BUTR HSE Programs in a transversal way, integrating R&D, Engineering, Quality and HSE output on improvements and learnings for the BU HSE Programs.
- Ensure a practical and pragmatic approach on problem solving, remaining very close to BUTR Units, creating easy and effective understanding on demands after assessments and support attitude.
- Drive and promote a strong HSE culture and performance acting like a bridge with different departments
- Take on an expert role in the HSE field
- Support the HSE management system including relevant documents and processes
- Drive initiatives and follow up on HSE targets
- Train, coach and support managers and employees on HSE actions and compliance
- Analyze and work with global HSE performance, gather data and identify trends, risks and improvement opportunities
- Support compliance with local and international HSE requirements and standards
- Contribute assessing and improving BUTR HSE Management Systems.
Your background
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Engineering or related field.
- University degree (Bachelor or Master) in Occupational Health and Safety, HSE or related field.
- Proven experience in risk assessment, management systems, process improvement, MOC, auditing and incident investigation.
- 8+ years' experience in HSE roles
- Strong communication and influencing skills across all organizational levels
- Fluent in English. Other languages would be an advantage for candidates.
- Competent in ISO 14001, ISO 45001, ISO 50001
- Competent in international HSE legislation.
- Ability to influence stakeholders and drive cultural change.
