As Global HR Business Partner for BioPharma R&D Clinical Operations, based in Boston Seaport and moving to Kendall Square, you will be a transformational leader who shapes organizational capability, leadership effectiveness, and workforce evolution to enable business performance today while building the talent, culture, and operating models required for the future. You will serve as a trusted advisor to senior leaders, driving organizational transformation, developing future-ready talent strategies, and fostering a high-performance, inclusive culture that accelerates business outcomes.

Accountabilities

  • Lead the end-to-end people and organizational strategy for BioPharma R&D Clinical Operations, shaping workforce transformation, organization capability, succession, talent strategies, and future-ready operating models aligned to evolving business priorities.

  • Act as a transformational thought partner to Clinical Operations executives and cross-functional leaders, influencing strategic decisions, organizational effectiveness, and leadership priorities while delivering measurable business outcomes.

  • Collaborate with Global HR Business Partners and senior business leaders to design and implement enterprise-wide people and organizational interventions that accelerate performance, shape culture, and enable sustainable transformation across the clinical value chain.

  • Provide executive coaching and strategic advisory support to senior leaders, challenging thinking, enhancing leadership effectiveness, and driving the organizational changes required to deliver future business ambitions.

  • Build leadership capability by coaching and constructively challenging leaders to accelerate performance, lead through change, cultivate inclusive high-performing teams, and drive accountability for business outcomes.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor on complex employee relations matters, balancing business needs, organizational health, and risk management while ensuring adherence to global employment laws and company policies across multiple geographies.

  • Lead large-scale organizational change and transformation initiatives, ensuring HR solutions align with AstraZeneca's global people strategy while enhancing organizational effectiveness, agility, workforce readiness, and long-term business performance.

  • Leverage workforce analytics, organizational diagnostics, and predictive insights to identify emerging trends, shape strategic decisions, design impactful interventions, and measure the effectiveness of transformational people initiatives.

  • Partner closely with HR Centers of Expertise to architect innovative, digitally enabled people solutions that transform ways of working, strengthen leadership capability, improve workforce experiences, and increase organizational effectiveness.

  • Champion a growth and transformation mindset within Clinical Operations, fostering innovation, agility, experimentation, continuous evolution, and learning while maintaining strong ethics, compliance, and transparency in all people-related decisions.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.

  • Significant HR experience (8+ years) leading strategic HR, organizational transformation, workforce planning, and business change initiatives within large, sophisticated, and matrixed global organizations, preferably as a Global HR Business Partner or in another senior HR leadership role.

  • Digitally savvy, with a demonstrated ability to leverage AI, technology, and data to transform workforce effectiveness, reimagine ways of working, and accelerate business outcomes.

  • Demonstrated track record of shaping and executing transformational people, talent, workforce, and organizational strategies that deliver measurable business impact.

  • Proven ability to influence, challenge, and coach senior leaders while serving as a trusted advisor on strategic business, organizational, and workforce decisions.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence, challenge, and negotiate at senior levels in a global environment.

  • Demonstrated use of workforce analytics, organizational diagnostics, and business insights to shape strategy, prioritize interventions, and evaluate organizational impact.

  • Deep understanding of employment law, policy, governance, and risk management in a global environment.

  • Experience leading organizational design, culture change, workforce transformation, and complex change management initiatives.

  • Ability to travel as required to engage directly with Leadership Teams and employees across global locations.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Master's Degree in Human Resources Management, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field.

  • Direct experience in the life sciences, pharmaceuticals, or biopharma industries.

  • Demonstrated success partnering with global leadership teams to drive large-scale organizational transformation and capability-building initiatives.

  • Ability to work effectively on global teams or assignments spanning multiple countries and regions.

In-person working gives us the platform we need to connect, work at pace and challenge perceptions. That's why we work, on average, a minimum of three days per week from the office. But that doesn't mean we're not flexible. We balance the expectation of being in the office while respecting individual flexibility.

The annual base pay for this position ranges from $172,347.20 - 258,520.80 USD. Base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. In addition, our positions offer a short-term incentive bonus opportunity and eligibility to participate in our equity-based long-term incentive program.

Benefits offered included a qualified retirement program [401(k) plan]; paid vacation and holidays; paid leaves; and, health benefits including medical, prescription drug, dental, and vision coverage in accordance with the terms and conditions of the applicable plans. Additional details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment. If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base pay (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
