Job Description:
Position Overview:
The Global Head of Tax will lead the organization’s global tax function, including strategy, planning, compliance, and reporting. This role will be responsible for minimizing the organization's tax liabilities while ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and international tax laws. The Head of Tax will also collaborate with the executive team to develop tax strategies that align with the company’s overall financial goals. The individual must have deep technical knowledge of tax law, excellent leadership skills, and the ability to manage a team of tax professionals across multiple geographies.
Key Responsibilities:
Tax Strategy and Planning:

Develop and implement the company's global tax strategy in alignment with overall business objectives.

Identify tax planning opportunities to minimize tax liabilities and maximize tax benefits.

Lead mergers, acquisitions, and restructuring projects from a tax perspective to ensure tax-efficient structures.
Tax Compliance:

Ensure compliance with all relevant tax laws and regulations (federal, state, local, and international).

Oversee the preparation and submission of tax returns and filings, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.

Maintain up-to-date knowledge of current tax laws and developments to anticipate impacts on the company.
Tax Risk Management:

Identify and mitigate tax risks, ensuring that tax positions are defensible in audits and disputes.

Manage tax audits and liaise with tax authorities to resolve issues effectively.

Ensure robust internal controls are in place for all tax-related processes.
Financial Reporting:

Oversee the accurate reporting of tax-related items in the company’s financial statements (including ASC 740).

Work closely with the accounting and finance teams to ensure that tax provisions, deferred taxes, and disclosures are accurate.

Review and analyze quarterly and annual tax provision calculations.
Leadership and Team Management:

Lead and develop a high-performing global tax team, providing mentorship and ensuring continuous professional development.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including finance, legal, and operations, to ensure alignment on tax strategies and planning.

Act as a key advisor to senior leadership and the board of directors on tax-related issues.
Stakeholder Engagement:

Serve as the main point of contact for external advisors, including tax consultants, auditors, and legal counsel.

Ensure effective communication with shareholders and other stakeholders regarding tax matters.

Provide tax-related input in strategic decision-making processes.
Mergers & Acquisitions (M&A):

Support M&A transactions by advising on tax-efficient structures and identifying potential tax risks or benefits.

Conduct tax due diligence and integrate acquired entities into the organization’s tax structure.
International Tax:

Lead the organization’s global tax strategy, ensuring compliance with international tax regulations, including transfer pricing and BEPS (Base Erosion and Profit Shifting) guidelines.

Manage cross-border tax planning initiatives, including tax treaties, foreign tax credits, and permanent establishment issues.
Qualifications:
-
Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required; a Master’s degree in Taxation or JD/LLM in Taxation is preferred.

Certifications: Certified Public Accountant (CPA) or Chartered Accountant (CA) designation is preferred.

Experience:

15+ years of progressive tax experience, including a minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role, preferably in a large multinational corporation or a major public accounting firm.

Expertise in corporate tax planning, international taxation, M&A, and tax compliance.

Strong understanding of financial reporting standards and tax-related accounting (ASC 740).
