Global Head of Design

The Role:

We’re seeking an energetic design leader with team management experience and a drive to innovate. As Global Head of Design, you will lead and manage a global creative team of designers across the US, UK, Europe, and India. 

Your responsibilities will include implementation and evolution of visual identity for ION, a large and complex organization comprised of hundreds of acquired brands. To manage this, you should have extensive experience creating, evolving, and maintaining corporate design systems.

The ION Design team, working across ION at Group level, upholds a cohesive design strategy for events, client experiences, marketing campaigns, print, web and mobile, and technical documentation.

Key Responsibilities:

• Establish objectives for the year ahead and plan SMART goals
• Define value engines and playbooks to ensure efficient collaborative design systems
• Use our workflow management platform to delegate assignments and communicate with collaborators and stakeholders
• Work with cross-functional teams, collaborating with designers, marketers, and product owners
• Provide design assets for multi-channel content that translates our marketing narratives into communications that resonate
• Responsible for design templates, consistency, deadline management, and quality of output in accordance with corporate standards

Required Skills, Experience and Qualifications:

• 7+ years working as a design manager in a corporate environment. 
• Fluent in English, both speaking and writing
• Strong foundation with the fundamentals of graphic design, including typography, grid systems and layout, UI/UX, accessibility
• Advanced understanding of working within design systems and brand guidelines
• Experience designing for print, including knowledge of print-specific considerations
• Experience designing for the web, including working with developers
• Advanced proficiency with Adobe Creative Cloud
• Experience with a workflow management platform such as Optimizely CMP, Jira, or similar
• Information architecture and wireframing for web projects
• Knowledge of interaction design best practices and UI/UX conventions
• Proficiency with Figma a plus
