Global Director of Product Safety
Huntsman is seeking a Global Director of Product Safety supporting the Division Name Division located in Location. This position will report directly to Sr. Vice President for Environmental, Health & Safety.
Job ScopeThe Global Director of Product Safety will provide enterprise leadership for Product Safety by owning global governance, standards, and compliance-enabling systems. The role ensures consistent regulatory execution, proactive risk management, and effective product stewardship across all businesses and regions, while aligning corporate functions, operations, and R&D to support compliant growth and business continuity. This role is a member of the Global EHS Leadership team.
Role Dimensions
Geographic: Global responsibility across all business units, sites, and regions.
People Leadership: Leads a global leadership organization of 6 direct reports; recruits, develops, and mentors senior Product Safety leaders. Global Product Safety organization includes approximately 60 associates.
Financial: Accountable for all global budgets related to Product Safety governance, systems, external platforms, and specialist consulting support.
Systems & Data: Enterprise ownership of product compliance systems, processes, and data frameworks.
Governance & Standards Leadership
Own and govern global Product Safety standards, policies, and procedures, ensuring alignment with regulatory requirements, and business strategy.
Define enterprise decision rights, approval authorities, and governance mechanisms to ensure consistent application of standards across regions and business units.
Maintain oversight of product stewardship and lifecycle risk management practices.
Provide enterprise oversight of compliance assurance, including regulatory applicability, risk-based prioritization, performance monitoring, and early escalation to prevent business, audit, or board-level surprises, while enabling site and regional teams to retain execution ownership.
Regulatory Compliance & Advocacy
Provide strategic leadership for global product safety regulatory compliance, including emerging and high-risk regulatory developments.
Establish and oversee regulatory horizon-scanning and issue-management processes to proactively identify, assess, and mitigate enterprise regulatory risks.
Systems, Processes & Digital Enablement
Own enterprise compliance-enabling systems and processes, including product safety, regulatory registration, and SDS/labeling.
Define and govern global process guardrails to ensure scalable, auditable, and compliant execution of activities such as new product introduction and product changes.
Lead external platform and vendor governance, including scope definition, performance management, and budget oversight.
Leadership, Capability & Incident Oversight
Lead and chair Product Safety leadership forums, driving alignment, accountability, and execution across regions and functions.
Build organizational capability through role clarity, competency frameworks, leadership development, and training in partnership with HR and functional leaders.
Set enterprise expectations for product safety incident response, escalation, and learning to ensure consistent stewardship and continuous improvement.

Executive leadership and enterprise functions (EHS, Operations, R&D, Manufacturing Excellence, IT, Finance).
Regional and functional Product Safety leaders.
Legal, Compliance, and Internal Audit.
External regulatory bodies, industry associations, and trade groups.
External vendors, consultants, and digital platform providers.
You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

Minimum QualificationsExperience required
A minimum of at least 10 years’ experience as a Senior leader in Health & Safety, Product Safety, or Product Stewardship within a complex, global organization.
Excellent leadership skills: Demonstrated ability to lead a global product safety organization by inspiring a high performing team and drive cross functional alignment.
Deep understanding of global product safety regulatory frameworks and compliance systems.
Demonstrated experience establishing governance models, enterprise standards, and compliance-enabling systems.
Proven ability to lead through influence in matrixed organizations and align diverse stakeholders.
Highly effective verbal and written communication skills and effective presentation skills.
Proven track record in serving as an effective business partner with a diverse group of business leaders.
Experience representing organizations in external regulatory, industry, or advocacy settings.
