Job Description:
The Global Data Privacy Director is responsible for the design and oversight of the company's global data privacy program. This role ensures enterprise-wide compliance with state, federal, and international privacy regulations, while partnering with cross-functional teams to embed privacy into the development and enhancement of customer-centric products and services—resulting in a trusted, compliant data environment that supports innovation, reduces regulatory risk, and strengthens customer confidence.
Essential Functions
Lead the design, implementation, and continuous improvement of the global privacy program, aligning with business objectives and evolving regulatory landscapes
Partners with cross-functional stakeholders to establish and maintain a comprehensive governance framework for the company’s privacy programs, including close collaboration with commercial software development teams to integrate privacy requirements across the global software portfolio, resulting in consistent, scalable privacy practices that reduce risk and accelerate compliant product delivery
Serve as the subject matter expert on privacy regulations; monitor and communicate updates on privacy compliance requirements—such as HIPAA, GDPR, and CCPA—to internal stakeholders, ensuring timely awareness and alignment across the organization
Establish and continuously enhance comprehensive privacy policies, governance frameworks, and operational procedures to ensure consistent, lawful handling of sensitive data—including PHI, PII, and PCI; oversee how such data is received, transmitted, and stored across the organization, while identifying and implementing improvements to data security and retention protocols in alignment with industry standards (e.g., NIST, ISO)
Collaborate with Compliance leadership to build and maintain trusted relationships with both internal stakeholders and external entities—such as the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services’ Office for Civil Rights (OCR) and professional associations—reinforcing confidence in the company’s data privacy practices
Ensure third-party vendors supporting critical business functions are properly vetted, onboarded, and offboarded in alignment with company standards; this includes conducting privacy and security assessments prior to granting access to personal information, and implementing offboarding procedures that minimize the risk of data misuse or leakage
Lead the response to data breaches, including investigation, containment, notification, and remediation in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements
Drive cross-functional engagement and partner with key leadership teams to define and implement foundational principles for data practices and processes—such as data security, classification, and retention—that directly support the effectiveness and integrity of the company’s global privacy program
Comply with Company and department policies and standards; performs other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Business or similar field or equivalent education and/or experience
10 years experience working in compliance or related field
Skills and Abilities
Demonstrated ability to manage confidential and sensitive data with discretion and integrity
Strong analytical and decision-making abilities to resolve complex privacy and compliance issues
Knowledge of state and federal information privacy laws and regulations, including HIPAA and the HITECH Security Act; extensive familiarity with PHI and PII
Familiarity with GDPR and CCPA compliance requirement
Excellent written and verbal communication skills for engaging with various levels of internal stakeholders and external regulators
Strong skills in drafting, implementing, and maintaining privacy policies and procedures

The potential compensation range for this role is below. The final offer amount could exceed this range, based on various factors such as candidate location (geographical labor market), experience, and skills.
