Responsibilities
- Oversee global accounting function, including accounting operations, transactional accounting, financial systems, adherence with technical accounting / accounting policy, and SOX compliance and internal controls.
- Oversee the implementation and consistent execution of the Company's accounting policies and procedures, including coordinating consistent policies, procedures, and best practices throughout the finance organization in collaboration with the Global Process Owner and Reporting team.
- Partner with finance leadership to ensure appropriate understanding and interpretation of financial results.
- Support the preparation of earnings announcements, SEC filings, and other external releases.
- Ensure that SOX compliant financial and accounting control procedures and financial reporting systems exist to provide accurate and timely reporting of financial information.
- Partner on global accounting shared services activities, organizational projects, M&A integration, and transformational programs. Lead efforts to help prioritize and execute initiatives.
- Support the management of banking relationships and other treasury initiatives in partnership with the corporate treasury function.
- Coordinate and manage external audit efforts and act as primary liaison between Morningstar teams and external audit firm for the audit and other related matters.
- Optimize the organizational structure of the teams to focus on stewardship and business partnership and to support the current and future needs of the business, ensuring training, mentoring, and career development.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with senior leadership to deliver on business objectives and share relevant advice on the financial implications of business activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Growth oriented leader with 15+ years of relevant or related experience.
- Experience as a controller and with progressive leadership roles in accounting and finance functions in a multi-national U.S. public company.
- Experience in leading or playing a significant role in Finance transformation activities (i.e. new system implementation, major process change, acquisition and integrations).
- Deep knowledge and understanding of financial structures, drivers of business value and performance.
- Proven ability to foster high-performance teams and build relationships with team members, business leaders, shared services, and global accounting functions.
- Ability to think strategically and influence others in leadership positions.
- Ability to synthesize the strategic and commercial implications of financial information and contribute to decision making.
- Ability to multi-task and manage shifting priorities and deadlines.
- Forward thinking attitude with a continuous improvement mindset.
- Outstanding technical accounting knowledge. Expert comprehension of financial reporting, and financial systems.
- Exceptional oral and written communication skills, including presentation skills.
- Demonstrates the highest levels of business and personal ethics and integrity.
- A bachelor`s degree or equivalent in Finance or Accounting, as well as Certified Public Accountant equivalent accounting qualification are required; master's degree is preferred.
- Strong skills and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs (Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word.
- Travel to Morningstar's global offices is required.

$215,825.00 - 388,500.00 USD Annual
