We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Vice President Independent Risk Monitoring - Operations Risk and Control to manage the Global Control Operations teams in Mumbai.

In the Operations division, we partner with business units across the Firm to support financial transactions, devise and implement effective controls and develop client relationships. This is a Team Manager position at Vice President level within Risk, Regulatory & Resilience, which performs various independent functions to ensure adequate controls are in place. We do this by

providing an integrated risk and control framework to govern, assess, mitigate and manage financial and operational risk in Operations.

What you'll do in the role:

  • Manage and supervise 2 teams within Mumbai

  • Manage the daily, weekly, and monthly business as usual processes and maintain desktop procedures for those processes.

  • Develop and maintain a strong working relationship with key stakeholders including Operations, Finance and Compliance.

  • Drive the review of the controls and processes to reduce operational risk

  • Help to shape and execute the control agenda for Global Control Operations in India

  • Support the Agile Fleet focused on driving change and delivering against the functions’ strategic deliverables

  • Building a detailed understanding of all team functions, allowing complex queries to be answered and commentary to be questioned and challenged.

  • Acquiring an intricate knowledge of firm systems, data sources and processes, building the ability to question data integrity;

  • Identification and delivery of functional projects.

  • Identification and Implementation of process improvements.

What you'll bring to the role:

  • Supervisory and/or line management experience essential.

  • Excellent organization, planning and execution skills.

  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.

  • Ability to work to stringent deadlines.

  • Strong experience of MS Office, particularly Excel & PowerPoint.

  • Supervisory and/or line management experience essential.

  • Familiarity with Morgan Stanley Operations systems, processes, and frameworks preferable.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint is essential whilst experience of SharePoint and reporting tools such as Cognos/Tableau would be advantageous.

  • Understands the business they support and how to add value to it.

  • The ability to recognize potential risk issues ensuring that they are identified, escalated, resolved and reported on a timely basis;

  • The ability to interact and influence effectively at all levels of the organization to present views and gain consensus amongst them;

  • Diversified financial markets and product knowledge;

  • Knowledge of accounting and basic terminologies used in the Financial Services Sector;
