Job Summary

The Global Client Director will be responsible for managing and expanding a portfolio of complex, key multinational clients based in France. This senior leadership role requires a strategic, client-centric professional who can build and sustain trusted relationships with C-suite executives and key stakeholders, drive sales and global revenue growth, and lead Mercer’s multidisciplinary teams to deliver innovative, tailored solutions that address clients’ people-related business challenges. The role demands a deep understanding of client industries, market trends, and Mercer’s full suite of capabilities to maximize client satisfaction, profitability, and long-term partnership value.

The Global Client Director reports into the Head of Global Client Management for Europe.

As a Global Client Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of Mercer’s client partnerships in France, driving impactful business outcomes, and leading a talented global team. You will have the opportunity to work with some of the world’s leading multinational corporations, delivering innovative solutions that transform their people strategies and business performance.

Your responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management:
    Build, maintain, and deepen trusted relationships with key decision-makers and influencers, including C-suite executives, across French-based multinational corporations. Act as the primary client advocate and trusted partner, ensuring Mercer’s (and where applicable Marsh’) solutions align with client business strategies and needs.

  • Portfolio Growth and Profitability:
    Drive global revenue growth and profitability within the designated portfolio by developing and executing comprehensive 360° client management strategies. Identify and pursue new business opportunities, expand the mix of Mercer (and where applicable Marsh) products and services, and meet agreed financial targets.

  • Strategic Client Leadership:
    Lead the development and implementation of tailored client growth strategies based on thorough market, industry, and client insights. Monitor client health, anticipate client needs, and proactively address challenges to preserve and enhance client satisfaction and loyalty.

  • Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    Manage, motivate, and coordinate Mercer’s global client teams to deliver high-quality project outcomes, including leading global RFPs, project implementation, and ongoing service delivery. Foster a collaborative environment that leverages Mercer’s global expertise to bring the best solutions to clients.

  • Technical Advisory and Solution Delivery:
    Provide expert advice and informed recommendations by leveraging Mercer’s (and where applicable Marsh’) subject matter expertise, IC, products combined with a comprehensive understanding of client risks and needs. Ensure solutions are customized, compliant, and aligned with Mercer’s business standards.

  • Market Engagement and Thought Leadership:
    Maintain up-to-date knowledge of industry trends, market dynamics, and competitive landscape. Represent Mercer and Marsh at events and conferences to build a strong professional network, enhance Mercer’s and Marsh’ brand presence, and position the firm as a thought leader.

  • Governance and Compliance:
    Uphold Mercer’s business and compliance standards in all client interactions and contractual agreements, ensuring advantageous terms for both the client and Mercer while institutionalizing long-term client relationships.

Your profile:

  • Proven experience managing complex, multinational client portfolios, preferably within the French market or similar European contexts.

  • Strong strategic thinking and business development skills with a track record of driving sales and revenue growth.

  • Exceptional relationship management skills with the ability to engage and influence senior executives and diverse stakeholders (clients and firm).

  • Demonstrated leadership in managing cross-functional, global teams to deliver integrated client solutions.

  • Deep understanding of people-related business challenges and the ability to translate client needs into actionable Mercer solutions.

  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.

  • Ability to navigate complex organizational structures and manage multiple priorities effectively.

  • Willingness to travel as required to maintain client relationships and attend industry events.
