As Global Category Manager for IT & Digital (f/m/d), you will partner with our IT organization and key global and sites stakeholders to define and execute the end-to-end category strategy for software, hardware, telecommunications services, and digital solution projects across the organization. You will ensure the timely, cost-effective, secure, and compliant delivery of IT solutions and services, driving value through supplier strategy and contracting. In this role, you will build and manage a strong global supplier ecosystem, foster cross-functional collaboration, and leverage deep market expertise to translate technology and sourcing insights into measurable business outcomes, including cost optimization, improved service performance, and reduced operational and technology risk.
This hybrid position, located in either Kvistgaard, Denmark; or Bern, Switzerland requires travel to other Bavarian Nordic locations as needed 15-20% and reports to the Head of Global Procurement.
Key responsibilities
- Develop and maintain category strategies and plans for IT, including software, hardware, telecommunications services, and digital solution projects, identifying opportunities to drive value through cost optimization, risk reduction, service performance improvement, innovation, and digital enablement
- Lead end-to-end category management activities, ensuring strong governance, execution, and performance across global IT sourcing initiatives and supplier portfolio
- Analyze procurement data and technology market intelligence to identify value opportunities, cost efficiencies, and improvements in service quality and operational performance
- Design and execute sourcing and contracting strategies for IT solutions and services, including complex negotiations with global technology vendors and service providers
- Manage strategic supplier relationships, ensuring high performance in service delivery, security, compliance, and issue resolution across the IT ecosystem
- Lead commercial and contractual governance for key IT agreements, ensuring value protection, compliance, and alignment with business and technology roadmaps
- Support the procurement transformation and continuous improvement initiatives within IT to enhance category performance, digital sourcing capabilities, and business impact
- Maintain deep expertise in global IT markets, including software, infrastructure, telecommunications, outsourcing models, and emerging technology trends
Skills and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Finance, Business, or a related field; MBA preferred
- Professional procurement certification (e.g., CIPS) preferred
- 7+ years of experience in procurement or strategic sourcing roles with IT and digital services category or project responsibility
