The PositionThe Procurement Manager in External Manufacturing Services is accountable for developing procurement strategies and leading initiatives for the Category on a global basis. As a member of the Category Management team the role is responsible for proactively leading and identifying opportunities, engaging, and partnering with business stakeholders and regional Procurement, and managing Category / Sub-Category suppliers to deliver the overall Category performance and savings targets.
The Procurement Manager develops and executes global category strategies to drive performance, innovation, and high-value savings. You will act as a strategic partner to business stakeholders and regional procurement teams, ensuring the seamless operationalization of category plans within Roche’s External Manufacturing landscape.
The OpportunityStrategy & Pipeline: Define and maintain global category strategies and a multi-year initiative pipeline based on market intelligence and business requirements.
Strategic Sourcing & Execution: Lead high-value strategic sourcing initiatives, demand management, and process re-engineering to meet or exceed savings targets.
Supplier Management (SRM): Manage key supplier relationships, oversee performance metrics, mitigate risks (CSR), and drive continuous improvement/innovation programs.
Business Partnering: Act as the procurement point of contact for stakeholders in Finance, Global Supply Chain, Quality, and Legal to align procurement activities with business goals.
Negotiation & Contracting: manage complex negotiation and state-of-the art CDMO contracting
Compliance & Reporting: Ensure data accuracy in spend reporting (Balanced Scorecards) and maintain strict adherence to 3rd Party Spend policies and legal contracting standards.
Education: University degree in Business, Life Sciences, or a related field.
Experience: 7+ years in procurement (multi-category), sales, or stakeholder management, preferably within a global matrix organization.
Strategic Mindset: Proven ability to act as an "enterprise thinker," leveraging deep category expertise to solve complex business challenges.
Leadership: Strong project management skills with the ability to influence senior stakeholders and drive decision-making.
Soft Skills: Curious, inclusive, and action-oriented; a lifelong learner who excels at "connecting the dots" across a global network.
Communication: Native or business-level fluency in English.
