As part of the GSET Engineering team, Production Engineering partners with trading desks to support execution services for the firm and its clients. The team consists of technical support and devops specialists primarily focused on production platform real-time monitoring, incident and operation risk management, and software release and technology operations automation.
This role places you at the heart of our electronic trading business. Technical support specialists help support the day-to-day operations of the electronic trading systems and the trading desks. The team is expected to interact closely with Trading & Sales business users. As part of a global support team, you will provide operational and technical assistance for GSET applications and infrastructure, both for external clients and internal business users. In addition, you will oversee every component of the production environment to identify and resolve production problems as well as assess risk of systems changes and consult on system supportability improvements. As a devops specialist, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and support of a Python based configuration, resource allocation, and deployment system for the electronic trading platform. You will work with external developers to help with the design and necessary implementation for the onboarding of applications into this framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Job Summary

- Enhance existing or implement production support tooling and release management system
- Apply knowledge of core technology and infrastructure including, but not limited to, tooling, testing, automation and monitoring, for reducing operational risk and increasing efficiency.
- Provide critical day-to-day production support, incident and crisis management with in-depth technical expertise
- Manage system health proactively through plant monitoring, alerting provisioning and capacity management
- The Asia Pac team is spread across Americas, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, China and India. The role requires working as part of the larger global team and collaboratively working with counterparts across the region on both local and global initiatives
Essential Skills:
- Strong development experience in a programming language such as Java/C++. Previous working as a developer will be a huge plus.
- Proficient in Python / shell scripts / SQL
- Proficient in UNIX – in-depth knowledge is a must; Experience supporting applications in a Linux or Unix environment
- Solid knowledge and experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial analysis and requirements gathering with users, through design, development, QA testing and production release.
- Using orchestration tools including Gradle, Git, Confluence, or JIRA.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down and communicate complex issues, ideas and provide multiple solutions to a problem
- Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with outstanding verbal and written communication skills with other groups, technology teams, and business users.
- Ability to handle multiple on-going assignments and be able to work independently and under pressure in addition to contributing as part of a highly collaborative and globally dispersed team
Preferred skills:
- Previous experience of supporting electronic trading environments
Skills Required
- Expert-level proficiency in at least one of C, C++, or Java
- Excellent understanding of Linux kernel internals (memory management, allocators, device driver model, scheduler, filesystems/VFS)
- Depth in one or more tracks: high-performance networking, low-latency engineering, or distributed systems (sequencer/virtual synchrony)
- Practical experience with UDP (multicast/unicast) and TCP networking, socket options, buffer sizing, and epoll
- Experience with kernel-bypass or fast-path networking technologies (for example DPDK, netmap) or XDP
- Strong debugging and profiling skills on Linux using tools such as perf, ftrace, perf_events, tcpdump, eBPF, and flame graphs
- Solid understanding of concurrency, synchronization primitives, and memory models
