As part of the GSET Engineering team, Production Engineering partners with trading desks to support execution services for the firm and its clients. The team consists of technical support and devops specialists primarily focused on production platform real-time monitoring, incident and operation risk management, and software release and technology operations automation.
This role places you at the heart of our electronic trading business. Technical support specialists help support the day-to-day operations of the electronic trading systems and the trading desks. The team is expected to interact closely with Trading & Sales business users. As part of a global support team, you will provide operational and technical assistance for GSET applications and infrastructure, both for external clients and internal business users. In addition, you will oversee every component of the production environment to identify and resolve production problems as well as assess risk of systems changes and consult on system supportability improvements. As a devops specialist, you will be responsible for the ongoing development and support of a Python based configuration, resource allocation, and deployment system for the electronic trading platform. You will work with external developers to help with the design and necessary implementation for the onboarding of applications into this framework.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND QUALIFICATIONS
Job Summary

- Provide critical day-to-day production support, incident and crisis management with in-depth technical expertise
- Manage system health proactively through plant monitoring, alerting provisioning and capacity management
- Enhance existing or implement production support tooling and release management system
- Collaborate with development team through activities such as system design consulting, software platforms and frameworks reviews, capacity planning and launch reviews.
- Drive continuous improvement through incident follow-ups and root cause analysis.
- The Asia Pac team is spread across Americas, Australia, Hong Kong, Japan, China and India. The role requires working as part of the larger global team and collaboratively working with counterparts across the region on both local and global initiatives
Essential Skills:
- Proficient in Python / shell scripts / SQL
- Strong development experience in a programming language such as Java/C++
- Proficient in UNIX – in-depth knowledge is a must; Experience supporting applications in a Linux or Unix environment
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to break down and communicate complex issues, ideas and provide multiple solutions to a problem
- Ability to handle multiple on-going assignments and be able to work independently and under pressure in addition to contributing as part of a highly collaborative and globally dispersed team
- Systematic problem-solving approach, coupled with outstanding verbal and written communication skills with other groups, technology teams, and business users
- Cash equities execution knowledge is a must for VP level candidates
Preferred skills:
- Solid knowledge and experience in incident management lifecycle.
- Previous experience of supporting electronic trading environments and/or systematic algo trading
- Solid knowledge and experience in software development lifecycle (SDLC), from initial analysis and requirements gathering with users, through design, development, QA testing and production release.
- Using orchestration tools including Gradle, Git, Confluence, or JIRA.
Skills Required
- 3+ years of relevant prior work experience
- Expert proficiency in programming in a language such as Java, Python, or C++
- Hands-on experience with databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or Oracle) and writing efficient, optimized queries
- Familiarity with distributed systems, messaging platforms, and cloud platforms
- Responsive web development experience with professional React/Angular/Redux and advanced JavaScript proficiency
- Experience building secure, efficient RESTful APIs and microservices
- Experience with tools for large-scale data processing such as Apache Kafka, Spark, and Hadoop
- Familiarity with CI/CD and deployment tools such as Jenkins, GitLab, and Terraform
- Exceptional attention to detail and follow-through
