The Greater Louisville Head Start (GLHS) Curriculum & Instruction Manager is responsible for the development, implementation, and oversight of high-quality educational services across the Head Start and Early Head Start program options. This role provides direct supervision and leadership to the Education Coaches and Flex Teachers. The Curriculum & Instruction Manager is the program's expert on Creative Curriculum fidelity and drives instructional excellence by overseeing child assessment, coaching staff, and utilizing Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) outcome data to inform curriculum adaptation and guide continuous quality improvement. This position ensures all educational practices and data procedures are in continuous compliance with the Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS).

SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

I. Education Staff Leadership & Supervision

  • Supervise, mentor, and evaluate all Education Coaches and Flex Teachers (floater staff), ensuring effective performance and adherence to program standards.

  • Lead the implementation and fidelity monitoring of the Creative Curriculum, ensuring that all center-based and home-based activities are developmentally appropriate.

  • Provide targeted coaching and professional development to the Education Coaches and teaching staff to strengthen effective instructional practices, with an emphasis on the Creative Curriculum developmental objectives.

  • Regularly visit and observe classroom and home-based activities using program-identified observation tools (e.g., CLASS) to assess the quality of instruction and provide technical assistance.

II. Program Strategy & Child Assessment

  • Provide strategic leadership and oversight for the comprehensive educational component of the FCP Head Start program.

  • In collaboration with the GLHS Director, develop, implement, and evaluate annual program goals, objectives, and component plans for education and school readiness.

  • Direct the implementation and completion of all Teaching Strategies Gold (TSG) assessment periods, ensuring accurate and timely data entry and reliable checkpoint ratings.

  • Conduct ongoing data analysis of TSG child outcome data and classroom quality data to identify educational gaps, monitor child progress, and guide the program's continuous quality improvement efforts.

  • Ensure that teachers are supported through the coaching model to individualize instruction based on TSG data.

III. Compliance & Interdisciplinary Collaboration

  • Monitor and ensure continuous compliance with all Head Start Program Performance Standards (HSPPS) related to education, curriculum, and child assessment.

  • Collaborate with the interdisciplinary HS team (including Disabilities/Mental Health) to review child incident reports, analyze child assessment data, and ensure developmental screenings are executed in compliance with HSPPS.

  • Ensure that education staff are supported in providing an inclusive environment for all children, including dual language learners and children with disabilities, in partnership with the Disabilities/Mental Health team.

  • Coordinate Kindergarten transition activities and information for Head Start children and families.

IV. Partnerships & Administration

  • Serve as the primary liaison with GLHS partners and community educational partners to align professional development, secure resources, and ensure consistency in educational standards.

  • Prepare and present programmatic reports, data updates (including TSG outcomes), and educational trends to the Policy Council, Governing Body, and GLHS Director.

  • Submit required programmatic reports to the GLHS Director in a timely and accurate manner.

  • Perform other duties as assigned and delegated by supervisor or designee.

Qualifications
  1. Bachelor’s degree in early childhood education required; Master’s degree preferred. 

  1. Minimum of 2 years’ direct experience in early childhood education field required. 

  1. Experience with evidence-based practices and curricula to promote early childhood education is desirable.. 

  1. Experience formulating and writing assessments and support plans, preferably for young children. 

  2. Must maintain First Aid and CPR certification. 

Skills Required
