The General Ledger Accountant ensures the completeness and accuracy of the financial statements through the management, review, and the analysis of accounting processes. This requires not only technical accounting expertise, but also the regular exercise of independent review and judgement of general ledger accounts.
This individual will be providing thorough reporting and analysis on technical and operational tasks and is to communicate with management on findings.
What You’ll Do:
- Perform both technical and operational tasks of the monthly financial close activities. Activities include general ledger maintenance, preparing journal entries and verifying proper general ledger coding for different cost centers to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Analyze the balance sheet account fluctuations to identify potential areas of risk and opportunities for business operations. Provide insights to improve financial performance.
- Collaborate with the finance team to review monthly P&Ls for assigned cost centers and perform variance analysis of actuals to forecast and budget, investigate, and explain any major discrepancies, and provide insightful actionable recommendations.
- Actively contribute to the department and company initiatives to improve processes and demonstrate an ability to understand / translate its financial impact.
- Manage US and CA statutory tax compliance filings and issues including, but not limited to, Sales and Use tax, SF gross receipts, VAT; working with 3rd party advisors and LVMH, Inc. tax teams, as needed.
- Analyze sales and use tax data from the accounting systems/POS system to ensure the proper tax is collected and reflected on tax returns and supporting documentation.
- Communicate errors or discrepancies noted and assist in mentioned corrective actions.
- Support internal/external audits and tax return preparation by gathering requested data, conducted analysis of data and tax laws and to resolve open issues.
- Independently lead special, ad-hoc projects, as needed.
Qualifications:
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related field
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance
- Demonstrate high level of knowledge and understanding of GAAP.
- Experience with accounting software/ERP systems.
- Month end reconciliation and analysis.
- Knowledge of technical accounting functions and experience in financial record keeping.
- Experience with auditing financial statements and documents.
- Prepare journal entries such as accruals and reclasses for month end/year end close.
Schedule:
- Hybrid – Onsite presence required at Benefit HQ 3x per week
The target salary range for this position is $72,000-$108,000 annually. The actual salary offered is based on market location and will depend on a variety of factors, which may include, as applicable, years of relevant experience; certifications or other professional licenses held; other legitimate, non-discriminatory business factors specific to the position; and the geographic location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will perform the job. This position is eligible to earn an annual bonus. Skills Required
- 3-5 years of experience in accounting or related field
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance
