About Giraffe Bioenergy
Giraffe Bioenergy is building the largest cassava-to-ethanol ecosystem serving the clean cooking market in East Africa. Our mission is to deliver affordable, sustainable ethanol cooking fuel as a scalable alternative to charcoal and kerosene. By 2028, we aim to build 75 million liters/year of ethanol fuel capacity supplied by over 20,000 hectares of locally grown cassava.
About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and versatile Business Analyst to serve as a strategic right hand to the executive team. This person will act as a generalist with Chief of Staff-style responsibilities, ensuring effective coordination across teams, managing internal operations and projects, and supporting executive decision-making. This is a high-impact, cross-functional role reporting to the CEO, with dotted-line collaboration with Finance, HR, and field teams. You will also provide oversight of a part-time Executive Assistant who manages core administrative tasks.
Key Responsibilities
1. Strategic & Executive Support
- Coordinate and track key priorities, projects, and follow-ups for the CEO.
- Prepare briefing materials, memos, and reports to support leadership decision-making.
- Lead internal communication between executive leadership and departmental heads.
- Provide analytical input on business operations, strategy, and performance.
2. People & HR Coordination
- Oversee the end-to-end hiring process in coordination with the part-time EA and hiring managers.
- Maintain and update employee records; ensure HR policies are understood and consistently applied.
- Coordinate onboarding and orientation for new hires.
- Support culture-building initiatives and quarterly team feedback processes.
3. Project Management & Execution
- Drive implementation of cross-functional projects and strategic initiatives.
- Track KPIs, timelines, and deliverables to ensure execution across departments.
- Facilitate regular check-ins with departments and produce progress dashboards or status updates.
4. Finance & Procurement Oversight
- Liaise with the Finance team to track budgets, spending, and compliance.
- Support vendor and procurement tracking processes to ensure timely execution.
- Analyze operational data to identify cost efficiencies and process improvement opportunities.
5. Field Operations & Logistics Coordination
- Coordinate with field teams in Malindi to streamline logistics, supply chain, and reporting.
- Ensure smooth communication and planning for site visits, events, and stakeholder engagements.
Candidate Profile
Must-Haves
- 5+ years’ experience in a generalist business role (project management, HR ops, or strategy).
- Strong organisational and multitasking skills with a proactive, execution-oriented mindset.
- Demonstrated ability to work across teams and manage cross-functional projects.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Comfort with data analysis, dashboards, and business reporting.
Nice-to-Haves
- Experience in a startup, agriculture, energy, or manufacturing setting.
- Familiarity with HR systems, finance tools, and project management software.
- Previous exposure to rural operations or logistics planning is a plus.
