ABOUT GIRAFFE BIOENERGY
Giraffe Bioenergy is building Kenya's first vertically integrated cassava-to-ethanol platform, the Galana Biorefinery Complex in Kilifi County. Targeting 15 million litres per year of renewable fuel from locally grown cassava on idle semi-arid land, the platform serves three markets: transport fuel blending, industrial ethanol, and clean cooking fuel.
ROLE SUMMARY
The Analyst is a detail-oriented, cross-functional role sitting within the Executive Office. The successful candidate will keep the organisation's financial, operational, and agricultural workstreams running with rigour and accuracy while also providing timely support on investor due diligence and executive priorities. This is a hands-on role suited to someone who thrives in a structured but fast-moving environment.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic & Executive Support
- Coordinate and track organisational priorities, projects, and follow-ups on behalf of leadership.
- Prepare reports, briefing materials, and analytical insights to inform executive decision-making.
- Act as a communication bridge between executive leadership and departmental heads.
- Provide strategic input on business operations, performance, and growth opportunities.
Agricultural Team Support
- Work closely with the agricultural team to support operational planning and scheduling.
- Track farm milestones, input requirements, and seasonal activity timelines.
- Consolidate field reports and translate operational data into structured summaries.
Operational Workbooks
- Build, maintain, and update operational workbooks across all business functions.
- Ensure data accuracy, version control, and accessibility for the team.
- Flag inconsistencies or gaps in operational data and recommend corrections.
Project Management & Execution
- Drive implementation of cross-functional projects and organisational initiatives.
- Monitor KPIs, deliverables, and timelines to ensure on-track execution.
- Facilitate interdepartmental check-ins and produce dashboards or progress reports for leadership.
Budget Alignment & Tracking
- Monitor actual expenditure against approved budgets across departments.
- Maintain live budget trackers and flag deviations to relevant stakeholders.
- Support the budgeting process and periodic forecasting exercises.
Financial Reporting
- Prepare and maintain accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reports.
- Consolidate data from multiple cost centres into clean management accounts.
- Identify variances and support the team in understanding financial performance.
WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR
- 2–4 years of experience in an analyst, finance, or operations role — agribusiness, clean energy, or finance exposure is a plus.
- Strong proficiency in Excel and/or Google Sheets; experience building and maintaining financial models and operational trackers.
- High attention to detail with a structured approach to managing data and documentation.
- Comfortable working across teams — from field agronomists to finance and investors.
- Degree in Finance, Business, Economics, Agriculture, or a related field.
- Proactive, organised, and able to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
