Internship Program Overview:  

Our Interns & Co-ops are our entry-level talent pipeline for GF across the globe. Our goal is to provide students with meaningful work experience that will equip them with the skills to embark on a career in the fast-paced and growing semiconductor industry after graduation. As an intern at GF, you’ll experience one-on-one mentorship, work assignments that prioritize your growth and potential, professional development opportunities, and the chance to network with executives. 

Summary of Role: 

This summer internship is in the Global Foundries IT (GFIT) organization, as a Project Management Office (PMO) IT Business Analyst. This internship offers hands-on experience in IT business analysis and project management. The intern will work within the PMO, analyzing processes, data, and supporting projects. 

Essential Responsibilities include: 

Business Analysis

  • Meet with process owners to document processes, identify similarities/differences, and understand drivers of variation. 

  • Gather learnings about Global Foundries Information Technologies’ major system landscape, transformation programs driven by IT, and major trends in the company’s diverse lines of business. 

  • Collect data and analyze IT Project information, looking for averages, trends, and outliers. 

  • Propose process improvements and efficiencies to improve and enhance PMO processes toward broader project management practices 

Capstone Project 

  • Take ownership of a small project, a data-based proposal on how to make GFIT PMO more efficient. 

  • Deliver a final presentation or report highlighting contributions and lessons learned. 

  • Provide a tangible artifact (process documentation, knowledge base entry, or improvement proposal). 

Project Coordination 

  • Participate and contribute to 1 to 2 projects, assisting in building project schedules and tracking milestones 

  • Maintaining RAID logs and contributing to risk and issues resolution 

  • Generating or administering project repositories and reporting in tools like ServiceNow, Azure DevOps (ADO), or Planner 

  • Supporting weekly and monthly status reports or other regular reporting 

  • Observe the IT workflow (project lifecycle) from development to change control to release 

Other Responsibilities: 

  • Develop time management and organizational skills. 

  • Adapt to professional project environments and expectations. 

  • Engage effectively as a contributing team member. 

  • Write clear meeting notes, project updates, and progress reports. 

  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

  • Present project updates and recommendations confidently 

Required Qualifications: 

  • Education – At least a sophomore at time of application, Information Technology Management or related field through an accredited degree program during the time of internship. 

  • Must have at least an overall 3.0 GPA and be in good academic standing. 

  • Language Fluency - English (Written & Verbal) 

  • Ability to work at least 40 hours per week during the internship. 

Preferred Qualifications:  

  • Prior related internship or co-op experience 

  • Demonstrated prior leadership experience in the workplace, school projects, competitions, etc. 

  • Project management skills, i.e., the ability to innovate and execute solutions that matter; the ability to navigate ambiguity. 

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills 

  • Strong planning & organizational skills 

  • Ability to manage large data sets in Excel or a similar system, with a basic level of statistical analysis skills 

  • Strong skills in meeting with process owners to document their process, identifying similarities and where they differ, and learning what drives the differences
