London based (Farringdon), hybrid working
At least three days a week in the London office, with regular trips to Ordnance Survey HQ in Southampton
Ordnance Survey (OS) is one of Britain’s most impactful technology and data companies, providing location data across the public and private sector. Our data is part of everyday life, with the average person benefitting from it 40 times a day.
Geovation is part of OS and works with startups to push the boundaries of what is possible with location data. Our Farringdon hub is a vibrant space where first-time founders collaborate with experienced entrepreneurs and geospatial specialists. We host events, encourage creativity, and help build the next generation of data-driven applications through our programmes and challenges. We do this to generate insights for the OS product team and grow future markets for location data.
At Geovation you can make a real difference, develop your skills, and help ideas, businesses and people grow.
About the role
As Impact Lead you’ll be obsessed with ensuring Geovation makes an impact – primarily on OS’s strategy, but also for Britain and as part of OS’s mission to help ‘build a better Britain’. You’ll constantly be identifying opportunities for Geovation to inject value into OS, building relationships at every level of the organisation and defining and delivering processes that create value from Geovation’s work. You’ll move between the Farringdon hub and the OS board room – spotting connections everywhere you go. You’ll help to steer where our ecosystem and incubator focuses to maximise value and explore how we can work with government to unlock wider potential.
In this role, you will:
- Engage and build relationships across OS and government departments to identify and unlock opportunities to create value from Geovation.
- Convert insights into compelling narratives that change the way OS sees market opportunities and how OS products can serve them
- Develop a pipeline of briefs and commissions for Geovation to dig deeper into trends and insights
- Steer the shape and direction of the support we provide to startups, the startups we target and how we work with them
- Regularly meet with Geovation alumni and other members of the ecosystem to monitor progress, understand the impact of location data and assess the impact of Geovation.
- Identify, bid for and deliver opportunities to work with third parties, for example government departments, that utilise Geovation’s capabilities.

You’ll relish the opportunity to bring different cultures together, bringing Geovation closer to OS and vice versa – and be experienced at bringing people with you while breaking down silos.
