Job Summary
About the role:
Join our established team to help design and improve Earth Observation tooling for our mapping platform. We seek a Geospatial Data Engineer experienced in working with remote sensing data and backend development. You will collaborate with our Geospatial Developers to enhance our earth observation pipeline for processing satellite data and develop tools for various projects, including:
- Methane Detection
- inSAR Subsidence/Uplift Monitoring
- Vegetation Health Monitoring
- Water Resource Management
- Change Detection
- Computer Vision
- High-Resolution Imagery Tasking
- STAC Creation and Interrogation
- Drone Imagery Orthomosaics
Experience and Skills:
- Proficiency with web mapping libraries (e.g., Mapbox, Maplibre, OpenLayers, Leaflet) and related technologies (e.g., GeoJSON, VectorTiles, Raster/Vector data, COGs)
- Strong understanding of GIS concepts (features, layers, projections)
- Experience with relational databases and concepts (e.g., SQL, Postgres, PostGIS)
- Proficiency in geospatial coding using Python and developing APIs (e.g., FastAPI)
- Familiarity with remote sensing concepts (hyper/multispectral sensors, bands, spatial resolution)
- Experience with containerization and orchestration for scalable deployments (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes)
- Experience using open-source geospatial technologies (e.g., STAC, shapely, geopandas, spectral, rasterio)
- Proficiency with version control and collaborative development (e.g., Git, GitHub)
- Ability to work both collaboratively and independently in a distributed, remote setting
