The Role
Intel 471 is looking for a Geopolitical Analyst with a specialized understanding of Middle East geopolitical issues and their cyber nexus to join our world-class team. The role can be located within the EU or UK on a remote basis.
Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of the geopolitical environment in the Middle East and how it affects strategic operations. Candidates should have experience focussing on Iranian geopolitics and/or foreign affairs. Candidates must also have a solid grasp of how the financially motivated cyber underground functions and how that intersects with wider geopolitics and foreign affairs. Candidates should be self-starters and comfortable creating something independently and working with little supervision.
Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Be a desk lead and subject matter expert for the Middle East within the Geopolitical Analysis team.
- Maintain a working knowledge of Middle East geopolitics and foreign affairs and how this impacts wider strategic goals/aims of countries in the region and elsewhere.
- Be able to form strong predictive assessments, considering second and third order effects.
- Demonstrate an ability to weigh competing hypotheses, using analytical tools to form conclusions.
- Draw upon open and closed sources of intelligence to form well rounded, multi-sourced Finished Intelligence (FINTEL) reports, graphics and webinars.
- Maintain consistent and accurate ownership and completion of tactical, business-as-usual tasks.
- Work with Intel leadership to identify, plan, execute and close a strategic project of interest.
- Receive and provide guidance, training, and mentoring from/to professional personnel in planning and carrying out activities and assignments.
- Work across multi-disciplined teams to draw upon experience and expertise towards a common goal.
- Deliver the work of your team via virtual threat briefs and webinars.
Education, Experience and Qualification
- Experience creating and editing FINTEL reports, with a keen eye for detail.
- Comfortable building projects from concept to completion.
- Basic understanding of Persian/Arabic script is desirable.
- Able to work under pressure, to tight and changing deadlines.
- Able to analyze large data sets and identify trends, patterns and anomalies to form unique intelligence.
- Exposure to nation-state-related cyber activity and how these groups operate is required.
- Exposure to advanced persistent threats (APT) and their tracking is desirable.
- Demonstrable experience in handling and responding to requests for information (RFIs).
- Ability to weigh competing priorities, manage tradeoffs and evaluate opportunistic new ideas with stakeholders, driving to consensus while maintaining a clear focus on overarching business priorities.
- Open minded, stress resistant, and hands on.
- Deep understanding of the Intelligence Cycle and how it affects the analytical workflow.
- Clear and concise communication skills.
The role will report to the Sr. Director of Geopolitical Analysis, but will be expected to interact and work closely with other areas of the company as needed. The role is available anywhere within the EU or UK and involves occasional travel within the US, Europe and Asia. The role requires regular contact with our international team located in North America, South America, Western and Eastern Europe, and Asia so a comfort working with diverse professional and cultural backgrounds is required.
