The Position

Genomic Sequencing Specialist

As a Genomic Sequencing Specialist, you will be responsible for driving sales of Roche sequencing platforms, reagents and solutions by targeting highly strategic accounts in research, clinical, academic medical centers and pharma sectors. Your role will focus on engaging Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs), C-suite executives, and key decision-makers to promote Roche’s sequencing instruments, reagents and expand the company’s footprint in genomics-driven markets. You will play a pivotal role in strategizing, implementing solutions, and delivering results by cultivating strong relationships and aligning customers' needs with Roche's cutting-edge sequencing technologies.

Key Responsibilities:

Sales Leadership & Account Management:

  • Take ownership of relationships with designated accounts, fostering partnerships that promote growth and customer satisfaction.

  • Promote and sell Roche sequencers, reagents and complementary products within the Roche sequencing portfolio.

  • Drive sales strategies to achieve assigned sales objectives, focusing on highly strategic accounts such as research institutions, integrated pharma companies, clinical providers and academic organizations.

Customer Engagement & Growth:

  • Establish and cultivate relationships with Key Opinion Leaders, C-suite executives, and other decision-makers at targeted accounts.

  • Develop and execute business plans in collaboration with regional business managers and specialists to drive growth across target markets.

  • Leverage a customer-centric approach to identify opportunities, present tailored sequencing solutions, and support lasting partnerships.

Strategic Solution Selling:

  • Coordinate complex solution sales by incorporating multiple elements of Roche sequencing instruments, reagents and workflows.

  • Retain, extend, and acquire customers by designing and implementing genomics-driven solutions that address key challenges and opportunities in research and clinical applications.

  • Use your product and market expertise to manage complex sales cycles and resolve customer inquiries and concerns effectively.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Lead the development and implementation of account-specific strategies to ensure balanced sales growth, sustained market share expansion, and continued account penetration.

  • Communicate clearly and collaborate cross-functionally within Roche to ensure aligned support and timely delivery of products and services.

  • Provide professional leadership, aligning sales plans with overarching business goals and ensuring they translate to measurable outcomes.

Market Insight & Knowledge Sharing:

  • Continuously build knowledge of industry trends, competitive landscapes, and emerging technologies in genomics and next-generation sequencing.

  • Share discoveries and learnings to empower Roche colleagues and contribute to the company’s growth strategies.

Location:

  • This is a field based role, the territory includes: San Diego, CA, AZ & NM. Candidates must reside within the assigned territory. Relocation benefits are not provided for this role.

Who You Are:

You are a dynamic sales professional with a passion for advancing genomics and a proven ability to achieve results in complex sales environments. You excel in cultivating relationships with high-level stakeholders and thrive in roles where strategy, collaboration, and sales expertise intersect.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • You hold a Bachelor's Degree in Molecular Biology, Life Sciences, or a related discipline.

  • You hold at least 5 years of successful B2B sales experience within the diagnostics, life sciences, or highly technical product industries.

  • Proven experience calling on Key Opinion Leaders, C-suite executives, and other key decision-makers.

  • Demonstrated success managing large/key accounts, with excellent ability to navigate complex sales cycles.

  • Strong business acumen with a knack for understanding customer needs and aligning solutions to meet those needs.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with proficiency in delivering impactful presentations.

  • Excellent negotiation, strategic planning, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to travel overnight as required by the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience selling next-generation sequencing (NGS) platforms or other cutting-edge genomic technologies.

  • Familiarity with key market segments, including pharma, academic research, and clinical environments.

The expected salary range for this position based on the primary location of CA is $109,200 - $202,800.  Actual pay will be determined based on experience, qualifications, geographic location, and other job-related factors permitted by law.  This position is eligible to earn incentive compensation that is calculated and paid in accordance with the applicable Incentive Compensation Plan for the role.
