We are seeking a compassionate and knowledgeable Genetic Counsellor to join our client's team in Abu Dhabi. This position is within one of the UAE’s largest government-affiliated healthcare networks, recognized for its commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and advancing medical research. The successful candidate will provide expert genetic counselling to patients and families, helping them understand and adapt to the medical, psychological, and familial implications of genetic conditions. Other responsibilities include but not limited to:
- Provide genetic counselling to individuals, couples, and families regarding inherited conditions and genetic risks.
- Review patient medical histories and family pedigrees to assess potential genetic disorders.
- Explain complex genetic concepts in an understandable manner, helping patients make informed decisions.
- Coordinate genetic testing, interpret results, and discuss findings with patients and healthcare teams.
- Offer support and guidance to patients coping with genetic diagnoses.
- Collaborate with physicians, laboratory staff, and other healthcare professionals to ensure integrated patient care.
- Maintain detailed patient records in compliance with confidentiality and healthcare regulations.
- Participate in public health education, awareness programs, and genetic research initiatives.
- Stay current with developments in medical genetics and counselling techniques.
Requirements
To be considered, you need to meet the following requirements:
- Master’s degree in Genetic Counselling, Medical Genetics, or related field.
- Valid UAE healthcare professional license or eligibility to obtain one.
- Minimum of 3 years’ clinical experience in genetic counselling, including pediatric case exposure.
- Strong knowledge of human genetics, genomics, and counselling principles.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex information clearly.
- Empathetic, patient-focused approach to care.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
