We are seeking a Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) Specialist to position Apilayer APIs as top-of-mind and top-ranked in LLM-based search environments such as ChatGPT, Perplexity, and other AI-powered discovery engines. This role sits at the intersection of marketing, AI, and developer relations—focusing on optimizing our API content, metadata, and positioning for discoverability and conversion within generative AI ecosystems.
Key Responsibilities· Develop and execute a Generative Engine Optimization strategy with the SEO Lead and Content Team, to improve Apilayer’s APIs visibility and ranking within LLM-driven searches and AI assistants.
· Analyze how LLMs interpret and recommend APIs, identifying key factors that influence their responses and rankings.
· Optimize API descriptions, documentation, and metadata (e.g., OpenAPI specs, knowledge base, website content) for better comprehension by LLMs.
· Collaborate with content, product, and SEO teams to align traditional SEO and GEO strategies.
· Experiment with prompt engineering to test and measure how generative engines surface Apilayer APIs.
· Create and maintain a GEO performance dashboard tracking impressions, citations, and conversions from LLM-based sources.
· Partner with developer advocacy and partnerships teams to ensure Apilayer APIs are referenced in AI app ecosystems, API marketplaces, and developer tools that integrate with LLMs.
· Stay ahead of trends in AI search, and generative content to continuously refine optimization tactics.
· To support niche based prompt keyword planning for LLMs
· To build a voice search strategy and how this differs to original search strategies
· 3+ years in SEO, growth marketing, or developer marketing roles (experience with APIs is a plus).
· Understanding of LLMs, AI search, and generative content mechanics (ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity, Gemini, etc.).
· Strong grasp of API documentation, developer experience, and metadata optimization.
· Analytical mindset with experience in data-driven content optimization and A/B testing.
· Excellent written communication and prompt engineering skills. Comfortable collaborating across marketing, product, and engineering teams
