Ameresco currently has a new opportunity for a Generalist Support Intern who will work as a member of the Asset Sustainability Group in a remote, office-based support role with occasional travel to customer sites. This position will provide generalist support across reporting, research, and data management activities, including basic support for compliance reporting, sustainability reporting and research, AI-assisted research on clients and prospects, and assembly of building and sustainability-related data. The role will also support information organization for energy use, operations and maintenance, capital planning, floor plans, drawings, and asset inventories.
Responsibilities:
- Provide basic reporting support for compliance-related and sustainability reporting activities.
- Assist with sustainability compliance research and related background analysis to support project teams and client needs.
- Support AI-assisted research on clients/ prospects, buildings, and sustainability-related topics to help inform internal planning and project development.
- Assist with data research about various organizations, and assembly related to energy use, sustainability compliance, operations and maintenance, and capital planning needs.
- Perform data entry, organization, and quality review within Capital Planning and Energy & Sustainability modules of ASG’s in-house software suite.
- Assist with Energy Star Portfolio Manager (ESPM) data population, utility bill synchronization, and meter configurations.
- Support preparation of tables, charts, spreadsheets, and data visualizations for client reports and final deliverables.
- Assist with compilation and organization of preventative maintenance (PM) information (including tasks and cadences), asset inventories, floorplans and related facility documentation.
- Support project teams with organization of construction drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, controls operating sequences/protocols, and standard operating procedures.
- Conduct site visits to customer facilities to capture digital imagery including LiDAR scans and photogrammetry capture devices.
- Support the quality assurance process to ensure collected facility information and deliverables align with Ameresco standards.
- Import and organize existing client portfolio information into AssetPlanner™ including asset inventories, floorplan mapping, and supporting documentation.
- Support Project Managers with project scheduling updates, deliverable tracking, monthly status reports, and project coordination tasks.
- Perform other duties as required for a junior, entry-level intern role.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Coursework or demonstrated interest in sustainability, environmental studies, business, facilities, engineering, architecture, data analysis, or a related field.
- Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel for data and content formatting and development.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to organize information accurately across multiple files and data sources.
- Ability to learn new software applications and skills quickly, including AI-enabled research and data support tools.
- Interest in sustainability, compliance reporting, buildings, energy data, facilities, or related business support functions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to work independently in a remote office-based environment.
- Ability to travel U.S./Canada up to 20%

- Experience working with spreadsheets, research assignments, document organization, or data entry is helpful.
- Exposure to building drawings, floor plans, asset lists, energy data, or sustainability concepts is beneficial but not required.
- Comfort working on a variety of support tasks in a fast-paced team environment and managing shifting priorities.
The anticipated base salary range for this role is $22.00 (presented in good faith). In addition to base pay, employees receive a comprehensive benefits package, such as health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off, and may be eligible for performance incentives, bonuses, commissions, or equity, depending on the role.
Actual pay will depend on factors such as internal equity, skills, experience, education, certifications, and location. This range supports our commitment to pay transparency and compliance with applicable laws. Compensation may vary by work location, including remote arrangements.
