Description

The General Sales Manager is responsible for overseeing and directing all sales activities within the dealership. This role requires a strong understanding of the automotive industry, exceptional leadership skills, and a proven track record of driving sales performance. 

Responsibilities:

Sales Management: 

  • Develop and implement effective sales strategies and tactics to achieve dealership sales goals. 
  • Recruit, train, and manage a high-performing sales team. 
  • Monitor sales performance and provide coaching and feedback to sales staff. 
  • Ensure compliance with all dealership sales policies and procedures. 

Customer Satisfaction: 

  • Foster a customer-centric, hospitality-based culture within the dealership. 
  • Oversees the customer experience from initial contact to post-sale follow-up. 
  • Address customer concerns and complaints promptly and professionally. 

Financial Performance: 

  • Analyze dealership financial performance and identify areas for improvement. 
  • Develop and manage sales budgets and forecasts. 
  • Monitor inventory levels and manage pricing strategies. 

Team Leadership: 

  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales team. 
  • Foster a positive and supportive work environment. 
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments within the dealership. 

Industry Knowledge: 

  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, regulations, and best practices. 
  • Represent the dealership at industry events and conferences as needed. 

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrates a high “HQ” (Hospitality Quotient) consisting of kindness & optimism, intellectual curiosity, work ethic, empathy, self-awareness, and integrity.
  • 3+ years experience as an automotive General Sales Manager or Sales Manager with a track record of achieving sales targets. 
  • Strong leadership and management skills. 
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. 
  • Strong understanding of the automotive industry and sales processes. 
  • Strong negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines. 
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and dealership management systems. 
  • Valid driver's license 

Physical Requirements

  • Sitting: The majority of the workday is spent sitting at a desk, using a computer and phone.
  • Standing and Walking: There may be times when the general sales manager needs to stand, walk around the dealership, or attend meetings.
  • Reaching and Bending: The manager may need to reach for files, supplies, or equipment.
  • Lifting: Occasionally, there might be a need to lift or move documents, supplies, or equipment.
