About the Role: General Manager, Information Systems  

The General Manager, Information Systems (GM Information Systems) will be a senior leader within the organization, responsible for overseeing all aspects of Information Technology (IT), Information Security (InfoSec), and DevOps. Based in New York and reporting directly to the Group CTO, this role will drive the strategic vision, operational excellence, and innovation required to support Genius Sports’ technology infrastructure and business objectives. 

The GM Information Systems will lead a high-performing team to ensure secure, scalable, and efficient technology operations across the organization. They will be tasked with aligning IT, InfoSec, and DevOps functions with the company’s growth strategy, while fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability. This is a critical role for an experienced leader who thrives in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and is eager to make a lasting impact on the company’s technology and security landscape. 

Strategic Leadership: 

  • Develop and execute the strategic vision for Information Technology (IT), Information Security (InfoSec), and DevOps functions, ensuring alignment with the organization’s overall technology and business goals. 
  • Lead and manage all aspects of the organization’s IT infrastructure, including network, hardware, software, and cloud services, to ensure seamless operations and scalability. 
  • Drive the integration and optimization of DevOps practices, enhancing the software development lifecycle through automation, collaboration, and innovation. 

Operational Excellence: 

  • Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure, scalable, and resilient IT systems, ensuring the highest levels of uptime and performance. 
  • Build and lead a high-performing DevOps organization, driving continuous integration, continuous deployment (CI/CD), and infrastructure-as-code (IaC) practices. 
  • Develop and enforce robust InfoSec policies, protocols, and controls to safeguard the organization’s data, systems, and intellectual property from internal and external threats. 

Team Leadership & Development: 

  • Lead a diverse team of IT, InfoSec, and DevOps professionals, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous learning. 
  • Partner with HR to attract, retain, and develop top-tier talent, ensuring the team remains at the forefront of emerging technologies and practices. 
  • Mentor and empower team leaders, setting clear goals and providing the resources needed to achieve operational and strategic objectives. 

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management: 

  • Work closely with the Group CTO and other senior leaders to align IT, InfoSec, and DevOps initiatives with business priorities. 
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure technology and security strategies support business objectives and regulatory compliance requirements. 
  • Act as a key advisor to executive leadership on technology investments, InfoSec risks, and operational efficiencies. 

Budgeting & Resource Management: 

  • Develop and manage the annual budget for IT, InfoSec, and DevOps functions, ensuring optimal allocation of resources. 
  • Evaluate and negotiate vendor contracts, ensuring cost-effectiveness and alignment with organizational needs. 
  • Oversee the lifecycle of technology assets, ensuring efficient procurement, deployment, and retirement processes. 

Innovation & Continuous Improvement: 

  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, identifying opportunities to innovate and enhance IT, InfoSec, and DevOps practices. 
  • Lead initiatives to modernize legacy systems, optimize workflows, and improve organizational efficiency through technology. 
  • Establish and track KPIs to measure and improve the performance of IT, InfoSec, and DevOps functions. 

Compliance & Risk Management: 

  • Ensure compliance with applicable regulations, standards, and frameworks (e.g., GDPR, SOC 2, ISO 27001) across IT and InfoSec operations. 
  • Oversee the development and execution of disaster recovery and business continuity plans, ensuring organizational resilience. 
  • Monitor and mitigate risks across the technology landscape, responding proactively to emerging threats and vulnerabilities. 

What We’re Looking For 

We are seeking an accomplished technology leader with a track record in managing diverse technical teams, setting strategic direction, and achieving high-impact results. The ideal candidate will have: 

  • 10+ years of leadership experience in engineering, technical operations, and/or product management within a technology-driven organization, ideally in sports, data, or media sectors. 
  • Strong strategic thinking and operational planning skills, with a history of successfully aligning technical roadmaps with business objectives. 
  • Demonstrated expertise in engineering management and product lifecycle management, with hands-on experience in scaling systems and delivering high-performance solutions. 
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence cross-functional teams and engage senior stakeholders. 
  • A proven ability to build, mentor, and retain high-performing teams in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. 
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field; advanced degree or equivalent experience preferred.

The salary for this role is based on an annualized range of $220,000 - $315,000. This range reflects factors such as location, seniority, and experience.
