Job Description
ABOUT YOUR ROLE
The role of a GL accountant involves managing a company's financial records, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, and providing accurate financial data to help guide business decisions.
YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
- General Ledger & Reporting: Responsible for financial reporting, maintenance, and reconciliation of the General Ledger and subsidiary ledgers. Perform month-end and year-end closing procedures: Conducting variance analysis, performing period-close activities, and generating related reports. This also involves ensuring timely and smooth monthly account closings and identifying unusual transactions or account movements.
- Financial Statements: Prepare monthly and annual consolidated statements; analyze financial records and reports to provide recommendations regarding expenditures, assets, and reserves.
- Internal Controls: Maintain and document internal accounting control procedures to ensure data integrity and safeguard company assets.
- Auditing: Support the preparation of working papers for internal and external audits, overseeing financial audits and the preparation of audit reports.
- Process Improvement: Recommend accounting methods and procedures to improve efficiency and accuracy.
- Cross-functional Collaboration: Coordinate with other departments and regional offices to resolve accounting issues.
- Support the preparation of the yearly budget. Perform financial analysis of actual results against budget/forecast.
- Handle periodic admin reports to local authorities such as investment and statistics reports.
- Handle ad hoc assignments and projects as and when required.
Qualifications
WHAT WE WILL BE LOOKING FOR IN YOU
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certifications (ACCA, CPA, or CIMA) are highly preferred.
- Experience: At least 4 years of progressive experience in general accounting, preferably in a multinational manufacturing environment; with experience related to SOX compliance is a great plus.
- Systems: Proficiency in ERP systems (Oracle or SAP preferred) and advanced MS Excel skills.
- Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of Vietnam Accounting Standards (VAS) or International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS).
- Language: Excellent English communication skills (both verbal and written).
- Soft Skills: High level of integrity, analytical mindset, attention to detail, and the ability to work under tight deadlines.
- Potential: Demonstrated potential to lead or mentor a small team of accountants.
