Essential Functions:

• Maintain and wear the appropriate safety equipment as required; including but not limited to, approved safety foot wear, safety glasses, hard hat with face shield, protective gloves, high visibility clothing and/or other safety equipment for safe handling of material.
• Verify the safe operating condition of equipment, racks, chains, and other devices used in the process. Report any unsafe conditions immediately to the maintenance or supervisor.
• Repetitive heavy lifting and continuous bending.
• Maintain communication with and assist all co-workers in preparing and processing material.
• Assist crane operators in hooking and unhooking material as required.
• Rack and rig material as required.
• Maintain production schedule by locating raw material to be processed, loading and unloading material, and removing miscellaneous debris prior to and after process, removing and/or banding material as required and locating area for finished product.
• Load and unload trucks as required.
• Assist kettle operators in drossing and cleaning work area as required.
• Perform paddling functions to enhance the quality level of the various galvanized products using air guns to blow off zinc needles, if required
• Verify quantity before and after process. If material is lost, immediately notify the appropriate area to locate and assist as required.
• Verify the quality of the material, that material is tagged properly and the quality of the finished galvanized product.
• Assist in general plant clean up and housekeeping to maintain a clean and safe work area.
• And all other duties assigned.
• Work safely, protecting self and others from accident and injury
