SUMMARY OF POSITION:

The General Counsel serves as the Company's chief legal officer and trusted business advisor, providing strategic legal guidance that supports business objectives while protecting the organization's interests. Reporting directly to the President, this role partners closely with executive leadership to navigate complex legal, regulatory, and commercial matters across a global manufacturing environment.

The General Counsel is responsible for all legal affairs of the Company, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, intellectual property, compliance, employment law, litigation management, and enterprise risk. This individual delivers practical, business-oriented legal solutions that enable growth, protect the Company's assets, and support long-term strategic success.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Serve as the chief legal advisor to the President and executive leadership team.
  • Lead all legal matters for the organization, including commercial contracts, corporate governance, compliance, employment law, litigation, intellectual property, and enterprise risk.
  • Partner with business leaders to provide practical, business-focused legal counsel that enables growth while protecting the Company's interests.
  • Negotiate complex commercial agreements with customers, suppliers, distributors, licensors, and strategic partners.
  • Develop and oversee corporate governance, compliance programs, and legal policies.
  • Protect the Company's intellectual property portfolio, including patents, trademarks, trade secrets, and proprietary technologies.
  • Identify legal risks and recommend practical solutions that support business objectives.
  • Manage litigation, claims, investigations, and outside legal counsel.
  • Advise Human Resources and executive leadership on employment law matters.
  • Support manufacturing, engineering, operations, environmental, safety, and regulatory initiatives.
  • Stay informed on emerging legal and regulatory developments affecting the business.

MUST HAVE

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Active license to practice law in good standing.
  • 10+ years of progressively responsible legal experience.
  • Significant experience drafting and negotiating complex commercial contracts.
  • Strong knowledge of corporate law, compliance, employment law, and risk management.
  • Experience advising executive leadership on strategic business matters.
  • Excellent business judgment with a practical, solutions-oriented approach.
  • Outstanding communication, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Highest level of integrity, professionalism, and discretion.

  • Combination of law firm and in-house legal experience.
