Primary Purpose:
Handles moderately complex accounting activities and prepares routine financial reports. Contributes to reliable financial data that informs departmental and organizational decisions.
Independently performs and manages bank reconciliations, identifies and implements automation opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy, and executes escheatment processes to ensure compliance with applicable regulations and company policies.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Handles moderately complex tasks related to tracking and recording financial activities, ensuring all entries are accurate and complete within the system.
- Reviews differences between expected and actual results, identifies key reasons for those differences, and shares meaningful observations.
- Creates and reviews key financial reports, such as summaries of income, assets, and cash movement, and explains what the numbers mean.
- Carefully checks financial records to ensure they match actual transactions, and looks into any inconsistencies to make sure everything lines up.
- Prepares required paperwork, answers questions from reviewers or inspectors, and ensures all work follows company rules, professional standards, and legal requirements.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Typically requires a 4 year degree in a relevant field, or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.
- Typically requires 2 years of related experience.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- Ability to exercise judgment within established accounting guidelines.
- Ability to explain accounting concepts and results to non-accounting partners.
- Ability to identify discrepancies or errors in general ledger accounts.
- Knowledge of accounting policies governing recurring transactions.
- Knowledge of core general accounting processes, including journal entries, reconciliations, and period-end close.
- Skill in independently preparing routine account reconciliations.
- Skill in preparing standard accounting schedules and supporting documentation.
