Under the direction of the Vice President of Finance and Administration, the Accountant is responsible for the day-to-day functionality of financial operations, ensuring effective and efficient accounting practices, policies, and transactions, while upholding the organization’s mission and values. Provide excellent and consistent customer service when managing all financial interactions. Maintain a positive working relationship within the team and with external stakeholders.
Essential Functions
- Create invoices according to company practices; submit invoices to customers.
- Prepares, posts, verifies, and records customer payments and transactions related to accounts receivable.
- Maintains and updates customer and vendor files, including name or address changes, mergers, or mailing attentions.
- Drafts correspondence for standard past-due accounts and collections, identifies delinquent accounts by reviewing files, and contacts delinquent accountholders to request payment.
- Posts journal entries into the company’s accounting software, including but not limited to bi-weekly payroll, expense review, depreciation, accruals, prepaids.
- Supporting month-end close, including financial statement and account reconciliation preparation, to ensure timely reporting within 5 business days.
- Assists performing variance analysis to compare actual results against budgets, forecasts, or prior periods, and provide explanations for discrepancies.
- Assist with year-end external audit and quarterly reviews.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
- At least three years’ experience in a public accounting, public company or private company accounting/finance department.
- Intermediate knowledge of GAAP (Generally Accepted Accounting Principles) and regulations
- Exposure to data analysis, risk management, and forecasting methods.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Knowledge of ERP software.
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Conditions/Requirements:
- Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer
- No heavy lifting is expected. Exertion of up to 10 lbs.

The band range for this role takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, skill sets, education, experience, training, certifications, internal equity, and other business and organizational needs. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at, or near, the top of the range for their role; and compensation decisions are dependent on the facts and circumstances of each case. The range for this role is $70,000 - $120,000.
