We are looking to fill a contract role for 18 months period in Accounting team of three. The role is hybrid, ability to go into Mississauga office is required. We have a very dedicated and supportive team with dynamic and evolving finance functions with many opportunities to learn and grow.
Meet the Finance Team
About the Role:
We are looking for a self-driven, organized, and adaptive team member that is excited to work in a dynamic and evolving finance function. The General Accountant reports directly to Accounting Manager and will be a key member of the accounting team supporting multiple subsidiary accounting. The role includes but is not limited to preparation and management of the month end close, reconciliation and investigation of account balances, budget to actual variance analysis, supporting the external audit, and liaising with various parties within the organization. The role will also be required to produce analytics to support management review and various other ad hoc requests.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile and manage balance sheet accounts by completing general ledger reconciliations (fixed assets, prepaid assets, accrued payables, bank/cash), understanding underlying balances, investigating, and resolving discrepancies within month
- Complete monthly, quarterly and annual GL close activities with diligence and accuracy, while adhering to timelines
- Review income statement and balance sheet trending against historical data and budgets, resolve any identified issues, and document explanations
- Maintain control over GL inputs by ensuring that any system reports are complete and accurate, and all GL attributes have been correctly captured in entries performed by your team and others
- Coordinate with accounts payable and FP&A teams to resolve matters pertaining to GL coding discrepancies
- Maintain and enhance current process to improve day to day and month end processes while maintaining all required controls and documentation

- Solid accounting knowledge with the ability to apply general concepts to unique situations
- Strong analytical and organizational skills
- Proficient verbal and written communication skills

- Ability to work independently and as a team
Bonus Skills:
- Degree in Accounting or equivalent
- Enrollment or working towards CPA designation
- Experience with NetSuite is an asset
