Summary:
Databricks Mosaic AI is hiring an experienced Senior Staff ML Software Engineer to drive major efforts in building out our latest line of generative AI products for the ML development lifecycle including data generation, training, evaluation, serving, and agent-building as well as play a key role in mentorship and development of the team.
You will thrive in this role if you have a strong sense of end-to-end ownership and enjoy translating user requirements into product interfaces, applying the latest generative AI techniques in novel ways, and building the backend distributed systems to power those interfaces. In this role, you will have the opportunity to contribute to all areas of our stack spanning from user-facing features to low-level GPU orchestration.
You will:
- Serve as a driving force in defining our technical strategy and roadmap while overseeing projects across a portfolio of efforts
- Play a leading hands-on role in the design and implementation of our ML infrastructure and GenAI platform software technologies
- Establish software development best practices, and lead by example in applying them
- Develop our engineering organization and culture through hiring, mentoring, and feedback.
We look for:
- 8+ years of hands-on programming experience with at least one modern language such as Python, Go, C++, or Scala
- 8+ years of experience contributing to the architecture and design of large scale distributed systems and/or ML systems and tools
- Experience building ML platform systems for applications in the ML model development lifecycle such as data preparation, model training, model evaluation, and model serving
- Experience applying software engineering methodologies and best practices including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and security.
- Effective communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical ideas to cross-disciplinary internal and external stakeholders.

The pay range(s) for this role is listed below and represents base salary range for non-commissionable roles or on-target earnings for commissionable roles. Actual compensation packages are based on several factors that are unique to each candidate, including but not limited to job-related skills, depth of experience, relevant certifications and training, and specific work location. Based on the factors above, Databricks utilizes the full width of the range. The total compensation package for this position may also include eligibility for annual performance bonus, equity, and the benefits listed above.
