Role Summary/Purpose
GE Vernova is seeking sharp, personable, highly organized interns who are looking for the opportunity to grow their technical and professional skills while building a career with unlimited potential. Interns will learn from the best in the industry and work on substantial projects with real world implications, getting hands-on with digital technologies.
What you’ll do:
Focus areas for this internship will be in Grid – Software Solutions within Services and Engineering functions. In this position, the interns will work on solving interesting problems related to Wholesale Energy Markets.
What you’ll bring - Basic Qualifications:
Currently enrolled in a Master or PhD program at an accredited university or credentialed software accelerator program.
Degree focused on Electrical and Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or relevant STEM majors
Must commit to working full time (40 hrs/wk) during the internship.
Must be willing to work out of an office located in Bellevue, WA
Must have the ability to work in the US for an unlimited amount of time without sponsorship
What will make you stand out - Desired Qualifications:
Prior Experience: Prior intern, co-op, or research experience in software engineering, energy markets, power systems, or enterprise grid management software.
Domain Knowledge: Familiarity with wholesale electricity market structures (e.g., Locational Marginal Pricing, unit commitment, economic dispatch) or Market Management Systems (MMS).
Technical Foundations: Hands-on coding experience with Java for backend development and Python for scripting, automation, or data processing.
Database & Tools: Exposure to database concepts (SQL) and familiarity with software development lifecycle tools (e.g., Git, JIRA, or Jenkins).
Systems Interest: An interest in how software applications optimize large-scale grid operations and the ability to bridge the gap between complex power system requirements and software solution delivery.
Market Exposure: Exposure to or coursework in energy economics, operations research, or the regulatory frameworks governing ISO/RTO operations.
Professional Standards: Strong analytical and technical skills with experience in software industry standards, testing, and debugging.
Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical and market-related concepts to cross-functional teams.
Problem Solving: Demonstrated creative problem solving and a proactive, curious approach to learning complex, high-availability energy software platforms.
3.0 GPA or higher

The pay for this position ranges from $21.00/hr - $36.00/hr based on years of
undergraduate/graduate field of study completed.
This position is also eligible for:
- Relocation Assistance: Co-op/Interns will be reimbursed for reasonable, proper, and documented expenditures incurred while initially reporting to work and returning to school/home upon completion of the assignment. Employees with a permanent address greater than 50 miles away from the work location are eligible.
- Housing Allowance: Co-op/Interns employees receive a weekly housing allowance to help off-set living expenses when the co-op/Intern’s permanent residence is at least 50 miles away from the work location.
- Employee Assistance Program, providing 24/7 confidential assessment, counseling and referral services
- GE Vernova Retirement Savings Plan (RSP) after their accumulated service reaches 90 days, and they meet any other eligibility requirements as defined in the plans. (Eligibility occurs on the 1st of the month following the 90th day.)
