Description

This position is responsible for overseeing Dem-Con's Scalehouse operations and leading the Scalehouse team while maintaining a high level of customer service and operational excellence. The role involves daily supervision of gatehouse staff, extensive customer interaction, and management of various clerical, administrative, and customer service functions.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong leadership skills and possess a thorough understanding of waste acceptance procedures, pricing structures, facility operations, and customer service best practices. This position serves as a key point of contact for customers entering the facility and is responsible for ensuring efficient operations, accurate transactions, and a positive customer experience.

SUPERVISOR ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Manage the daily gatehouse staffing schedule, ensure adequate scale coverage during operating hours, approve scheduled PTO, and maintain coverage for two Saturdays per month from April through November.

  • Coordinate with facility managers and staff to maintain clear, effective communication in daily material management activities.
  • Resolve issues in real time so Scalehouse attendants can remain focused on moving trucks through the facility.
  • Work closely with the Customer Service Manager and CSR’s to ensure accurate ticket execution with minimal errors, including daily use of WasteWorks to verify ticket completion.
  • Greet and direct customers entering the facility while delivering excellent customer service.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound traffic to keep trucks moving efficiently.
  • Oversee Scalehouse operations, including weighing trucks, issuing tickets, maintaining accurate records, and reporting transported materials.
  • Accurately weigh vehicles using scale software.
  • Measure trucks and trailers and ensure the gatehouse team performs the process accurately and consistently.
  • Understand and enforce Dem-Con’s waste acceptance policies and ensure gatehouse staff are properly trained on those requirements.
  • Print tickets and manage manifests for all inbound and outbound traffic.
  • Balance the cash drawer when applicable and ensure proper cash management of our till.  

Requirements

CUSTOMER SERVICE ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Provide phone coverage and deliver excellent customer service to callers.
  • Assist with compiling daily, weekly, and monthly reports.
  • Assist with data collection and filing.
  • Support the sales and customer service teams as needed.
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office products.
  • Proficiency with computers.
  • Ability to learn new software programs.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The position works in an indoor office environment with moderate outside activity. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, filing cabinets and fax machines.
