SUMMARY

Gate Management Coordinators perform skilled work including scheduling and assessing gate access and capacity in a highly secure environment at Charlotte Douglas International Airport (CLT). The primary function of a Gate Management Coordinator is to constantly monitor the Airport Operational Database (AODB). Must be able to assess situations quickly and determine the proper course of action within established rules, regulations and procedures while representing CLT in a professional, positive manner.

Responsibilities:

1. Continuously monitors the Airport Operational Database (AODB); prepares and maintains logs, records, and reports; as needed, works with common use operating system and associated systems and programs (i.e., passenger processing platforms).
2. Creates links, updates, and allocates flights via the Airport Operational Database and Resource Management systems.
3. Assists Air Carriers in scheduling flights based on gate availability.
4. Receives and reviews charter flight requests and provides gate assignments for flights as needed.
5. Monitors and reviews air carrier schedules to determine aircraft gate and parking availability to prevent conflicts in gate/parking assignments; resolve scheduling conflicts as needed; ensure compliance with CLT Gate Use Procedures.
6. Assess situations quickly, objectively and determine the proper course of action, while communicating effectively with both internal and external business partners and stakeholders.
7. Follow complex instructions; establish and maintain effective working relationships; assist with special events.
8. Identify and determine general nature, location, urgency, and extent of IROPS, gate scheduling conflicts, etc. Determine priority, relay, and follow complex oral and written instructions. Act decisively and exercise independent judgment within established rules, regulations, and procedures.
9. Interpret and adhere to Federal regulations, procedures, and instructions to ensure the safety of persons and security of airport property.
10. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
High School Graduation or equivalent and one year of relevant work experience

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
• Skills to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Skills to effectively organize data and prioritize resources during routine and special operations.
• Ability to actively pursue and develop new ideas, methods, and procedures to meet changing situations.
• Ability to make comprehensive recommendations to resolve operational problems.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with airline management, federal partners, co-workers, and the public, and represent the airport in a positive and professional manner.
• Ability to demonstrate initiative, creativity, and innovative thinking in a rapidly changing work environment.
• Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency and stressful situations. Must be able to assess situations quickly, objectively and determine the proper course of action within established rules, regulations, and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with co-workers, other agencies, tenants, employees, and the public, representing CLT in a professional, positive manner.

Physical Requirements:
50% sitting, 20% walking 10% standing, 10% driving, 5% bending, 3% reaching and 2% kneeling/squatting. Able to walk up to one mile daily. Lift up to 25lbs for short distances (i.e. - 2 feet)

CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT

The City’s Background Check Policy requires background checks to be conducted on final internal or external candidate(s) applying for any position with the City of Charlotte. The type of information that will be collected as part of a background check includes, but is not limited to: reference checks, social security verification, education verification, criminal conviction record check, and, if applicable, a credit history check, sex offender registry and motor vehicle records check.

Final candidates must pass a pre-employment drug-screening test and physical examination. During the selection process, candidates may be asked to take a skills test, and/or participate in other assessments.
