As a Gas Compression Tech, you’ll put your skills into action by partnering directly with customers to keep their operations running at peak performance. You’ll troubleshoot and oversee repairs on a wide range of Caterpillar gas and diesel engines—both in the shop and out in the field—leveraging your technical knowledge to build trust, solve challenges, and deliver the reliability our customers depend on. Your work will include:
- Field diagnosis and running repairs
- Large‑scale overhauls and rebuilds
- Component replacements
- Completing required paperwork and maintaining clear customer communication
Qualifications
- Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification (Millwright and Automotive also accepted)
- Valid class 5 driver’s license with a successful drivers abstract required for field positions
- Minimum 2 years experience as a Journeyperson Heavy Duty Mechanic Certification
- 2 years experience on gas engines and compressors
- 2 years experience operating a service truck
- Previous CAT general line experience including troubleshooting skills and a good understanding of CAT engine and powertrain components
- Completion, or in the process of completing Finning S-level courses
- Team player will have excellent interpersonal, organizational, and communication skills
- Must be able to demonstrate basic computer skills
Important Details
- This position is based out of Calgary, Edmonton or Red Deer on a 7x7 shift
- Must be able and willing to travel to and from customer sites across our territory
- A condition of employment may include the ability to obtain Customer Site access (Drug & Alcohol, fitness testing) and wear a respirator where applicable
