Job Responsibilities:
We are seeking an experienced Garnishments Coordinator with a strong focus on tax compliance and garnishment administration. The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of U.S. payroll tax laws and experience with Ceridian Dayforce.
Your Responsibilities
Garnishment Administration:
  • Process employee garnishments, including child support, tax levies, bankruptcy orders, and creditor garnishments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
  • Interpret and accurately enter garnishment orders into the payroll system, verifying legal documentation for completeness and validity.
  • Communicate effectively with Division leadership, employees, and external agencies (e.g., courts, state disbursement units, IRS) to address and resolve garnishment inquiries.
  • Maintain thorough and organized documentation of garnishment orders, payments, correspondence, and terminations to support audit readiness and legal compliance.
  • Ensure timely and accurate disbursement of garnishment payments to appropriate agencies and creditors, adhering strictly to court-ordered deadlines and remittance schedules.
  • Monitor garnishment balances, apply limits (e.g., disposable earnings calculations), and track fulfillment or expiration of orders.
  • Develop internal procedures and job aids for consistent processing and handling of garnishments across divisions.
  • Provide training, guidance, and policy interpretation to HR, Payroll, and Division staff on garnishment-related matters and employee communication protocols.
  • Support audits and legal reviews by supplying garnishment documentation and payment histories as requested.

Ceridian Dayforce Management:
  • Utilize Ceridian Dayforce for comprehensive payroll processing, focusing on optimization of the tax and garnishment modules for accuracy and compliance.
  • Troubleshoot technical and data integrity issues within Dayforce, working cross-functionally with HRIS, IT, and Ceridian support to resolve system anomalies.
  • Collaborate with the HRIS team to configure workflows, business rules, and integrations that enhance payroll automation and reduce manual processes.
  • Conduct regular audits of employee records, tax configurations, garnishment setups, and retroactive adjustments to ensure system accuracy.
  • Participate in the testing and implementation of software upgrades, patches, and new functionality, providing feedback to improve system usability.
  • Train payroll and HR team members on Dayforce processes, system navigation, reporting tools, and updates, ensuring consistent usage and understanding.
  • Maintain payroll system documentation, including configuration notes, process workflows, training materials, and user manuals.
  • Utilize Dayforce reporting tools and dashboards to generate actionable insights for compliance monitoring and payroll analytics.

Payroll Reconciliation and Reporting:
  • Reconcile payroll tax filings, wage garnishment deductions, and general ledger accounts to ensure consistency between payroll records, financial systems, and third-party payments.
  • Prepare and review weekly, monthly, quarterly, and annual payroll reports, including pay summaries, tax liability reports, and deduction audits for internal and external stakeholders.
  • Identify and investigate discrepancies in payroll transactions, such as incorrect earnings, taxes, deductions, or overpayments, and take corrective actions.
  • Develop and maintain standardized reconciliation templates and procedures to support consistency and transparency in payroll reporting.
  • Partner with Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate recording of payroll expenses, accruals, and reclassifications during month-end close.
  • Generate audit-ready reports and support internal and external audit activities, including providing payroll schedules, variance explanations, and documentation.
  • Leverage data analytics to monitor trends, detect anomalies, and support strategic decision-making related to labor costs and compliance.
  • Continuously review and refine payroll processes to enhance accuracy, compliance, and efficiency.
  • Prepare and review payroll reports for accuracy and compliance.
  • Analyze payroll data to identify discrepancies and implement corrective actions.

Who we are looking for
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of payroll experience with a focus on tax and garnishments.
  • In-depth knowledge of U.S./Canadian payroll tax laws and regulations.
  • Proficiency in Ceridian Dayforce, including its tax and garnishment features.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
