Job DescriptionWorking throughout the South West, delivering planned works and, where necessary, delivering reactive minor works throughout SWW’S operational areas. This rationalised frontline workforce role will be multifunctional, with balanced skills across traditional civil engineering, lining, and pipe bursting.
What you will be doing
- To effectively co-ordinate & manage members of their team and complete tasks briefed to them by their line manager.
- To carry out works safely and in accordance with specification and current legislation.
- To undertake dynamic risk assessments for all tasks undertaken & ensure this is kept relevant & up to date.
- Complete comprehensive ‘specific job packs’ ensuring all commercial aspects are captured (GRN’s, plant hires, time on site, etc.) and all job-specific feedback provided is complete & relevant.
- Liaise with Client’s site Representatives, Other stakeholders and the General Public (as required)
- To ensure members of the teams wear the correct PPE and are compliant with current Health and Safety Legislation.
- To carry out weekly PUWER, LOLER, vehicle inspection & any other associated task-specific paperwork comprehensively.
- Carrying out the following tasks/use the following equipment: Manual handling (lifting of water works fittings, pipe, materials and plant), hand excavation. Disc Cutter, breaking equipment, compaction equipment, and a variety of small hand tools.
- Report all defective plant/equipment & ensure appropriate action is taken to replace the item or repair the defect.
- Ensure Van & equipment is kept clean, tidy & safe.
- Co-operate with & assist in maintaining depot safety & control the inflow and outflow of materials/equipment.
General
Any ad-hoc duties that may occur as instructed by line management.
- Previous industry experience in civil engineering/utilities
- Previous industry experience in CIPP lining & patch lining would be highly advantageous
- Previous industry experience in undertaking repairs on pipelines utilising ‘no dig techniques’ (pipe bursting, re-rounding, etc.)
- Valid UK driving licence
- Proficient knowledge of the standards/details set out in ‘WRC Sewers
