What You'll Do

Epic Games is seeking an experienced Senior Gameplay Designer to join our dynamic team, contributing across various aspects of game design for our collaboration with Disney. In this role, you will collaborate closely with multidisciplinary teams to design and implement gameplay abilities, combat mechanics, and gameplay systems that deliver a deep, satisfying player experience.

In this role, you will
  • Own the design and implementation of various major features, such as gameplay systems, character design, combat mechanics, driving features from concept to a polished, shippable state
  • Implement technical design solutions directly in engine, working closely with engineers to build, iterate, and debug gameplay features
  • Set and maintain high-quality standards for design, actively participating in big-picture decisions to drive superior results
  • Create clear, structured design documents and drive collaborative, iterative prototyping processes, both paper-based and in-game
  • React quickly to project needs, contributing wherever the team needs you the most, accurately prioritizing critical tasks
What we're looking for
  • Minimum 5+ years of experience shipping multiple titles as a game designer, with a strong focus on combat systems, ability design, or action game mechanics
  • Proven ability to implement gameplay features directly in engine (Unreal Engine preferred), including scripting, visual scripting, or light programming
  • Deep passion for multiplayer games with a wide breadth of game knowledge and understanding of player motivations
  • Ability to react quickly to changing project needs and directions, along with strong problem-solving skills and a solution-oriented mindset
  • Experience with multiplayer games, systems design, and networking fundamentals

This role is open to multiple locations across the US (including CA, NYC, & WA).

The expected annual base pay range(s) for this position are detailed below. Each base pay range is relevant only for individuals who are residents of or will be expected to work within the specified locale. Compensation varies based on a variety of factors, which include (but aren’t limited to) things such as skills and competencies, qualifications, knowledge, and experience. In addition to base pay, most employees are eligible to participate in Epic’s generous benefit plans and discretionary incentive programs (subject to the terms of those plans or programs).
