Company Description

An independent mobile games studio based in Montreal since 2007, with over 3.5 million monthly active players worldwide and more than 500 million downloads since founding. The studio develops a portfolio of mobile titles combining globally recognized licensed franchises and original creations. Now entering an exciting new chapter as a fully independent studio, growth is driven by the passion of the team and its player communities.

Job Description

Are you a data-driven problem solver who wants to work at the intersection of analytics and AI? This role is for a Game Data Analyst joining the production team of a globally recognized mobile title. You will be embedded directly alongside product managers and designers as the person they turn to when data is needed to make fact-based decisions.

Analysts on this team do not just build dashboards. They use Claude Code, Databricks Genie AI agents, and a modern lakehouse stack to move faster than a traditional analytics team — spending less time on boilerplate SQL and more time on insights that move the needle. If you are excited about what happens when strong analytical fundamentals meet AI-powered tooling, this role is for you.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Game Strategy and Live Ops Optimization
- Work closely with the production team to understand the game vision and monthly operation plans.
- Generate timely insights to support operational excellence across gameplay and monetization.
- Become a deep expert on the assigned title by playing it regularly and understanding the intricacies of its economy, progression, and player experience.

Analytics and Insights
- Build and maintain reports and dashboards that make game performance easy to understand at a glance.
- Maintain clear data taxonomy and structured documentation for the game's data models.
- Transform and refine data using dbt and Databricks to power fast, accurate reporting.
- Design and analyze A/B tests and experiments to assess the causal impact of live ops and new features.
- Build predictive models that deepen understanding of player behavior and lifetime value.

AI-Augmented Analytics
- Use Claude Code and AI-assisted development tools to accelerate SQL writing, code review, and data transformation workflows.
- Help refine and maintain Databricks Genie AI agents that enable the production team to self-serve on routine analytical questions.
- Identify opportunities to apply AI tooling to reduce repetitive work and increase the team's overall analytical leverage.

Collaboration and Strategic Alignment
- Partner with Product, Marketing, Engineering, and Game Design teams to ensure business objectives are met through data-driven decisions.
- Support self-service analytics initiatives by helping production team members use dashboards and AI agents confidently.
- Contribute to the studio's internal data governance program.

Qualifications

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

- Experience as a data analyst or in a similar role, ideally within gaming, mobile applications, or digital products.
- Proven experience supporting live operations with data, including helping a team optimize an in-market product rather than only reporting on it.
- Strong proficiency in SQL, with the ability to transform, clean, and analyze large datasets.
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau, Power BI, or equivalent.
- Understanding of free-to-play game design principles, including virtual economies, microtransactions, and player engagement loops.
- You play mobile games regularly.

NICE-TO-HAVE SKILLS

- Experience with dbt and Databricks, or a similar modern lakehouse data stack.
- Comfort using AI coding assistants such as Claude Code, GitHub Copilot, or equivalent to accelerate analytical work.
- Intermediate Python skills for data science or automation purposes.
- Experience designing and analyzing A/B tests with statistical rigor.
- Experience working with product teams on user acquisition, monetization, or retention strategies.
