Graduate Assistant – NON Teacher Job Description
The Math Skills Center seeks applicants to serve as Graduate Assistant - Non Teacher, with an hourly wage of approximately $13 per hour during a long semester. The successful candidate for the GANT position should hold a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, or a comparable field. The position consists of pre-semester training (approximately two days per semester) and regular GANT meeting. In addition, GANTs will assist the Math Skills Center in the tutoring lab, proctoring exams, grading papers, or in an office setting, depending on the needs of the department. Once a GANT has been properly trained, the GANT may be allowed to work independently in one of the areas mentioned above.
All codes of conduct and policies must be strictly adhered to, as outlined in the GA training manual, the tutoring manual, and/or the ATC manual. In addition, candidates for a GANT position also agree to complete all required training, both in person and online, and abide by all local, state, and federal laws including but not limited to those laws pertaining to education, such as FERPA. The successful candidate will receive information about all required trainings and departmental expectations of professionalism.
When the department begins the interview process, each candidate who is needed for an interview will be contacted directly. There is no need to follow-up in person in the department unless contacted by the Department to come for a meeting.
NOTE: This opening is to create a pool of candidates that will be contacted as it is deemed that money is available to hire new GANTs.
All positions are security-sensitive. Applicants are subject to a criminal history investigation, and employment is contingent upon the institution’s verification of credentials and/or other information required by the institution’s procedures, including the completion of the criminal history check.
