JOB PURPOSE:
The Sustainability Technology Functional Engineer will analyze, design, configure, test and deploy functional systems to meet business specific needs and requirement relating to software used for collecting, storing, calculating, analyzing and reporting sustainability data. The Engineer will leverage technical expertise and problem-solving skills to play a crucial role in enhancing productivity, reducing costs, and improving overall business performance. The Engineer will report to the Global Sustainability Portfolio team.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Design, develop and configure functional components that meet business requirements by analyzing user needs, creating technical specifications, and utilizing engineering principles to design and develop functional solutions
- Ensure that the designed components or systems meet the required quality standards
- Work closely with cross-functional teams to ensure the successful implementation of functional components or systems
- Create technical documentation, such as design specifications, test plans, and user manuals to ensure that information is available
- Execute product enhancements, including configuration, testing, and deployment activities
- Provide training and support to end-users on system functionality and best practices.
- Troubleshoot issues that arise during the development and implementation phases
- Actively seek new knowledge and skills to contribute to the overall improvement of the team's performance and the successful delivery of projects
- Identify and optimize the performance of functional components or systems to ensure efficient and effective operation
- Provide support and maintenance for functional components or systems, addressing user case issues, and ensuring their continuous functionality and reliability
- Collaborate with software vendors and service providers to address technical issues and enhancements.
KEY QUALIFICATION & EXPERIENCES:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science / information technology / environmental engineering / or equivalent work experience. Master's degree preferred
- 5+ years of experience in designing and configuring environmental data management software with integrations with environmental enterprise software systems
- Deep understanding of software development methodologies and tools commonly used in functional engineering
- Strong understanding of system analysis, design, and configuration principles.
- Proficiency in data management, including data collection, storage, migration, and reporting.
- Experience with database management systems and data integration tools.
- Knowledge of analytics and reporting tools, including dashboard creation and custom reporting.
- Demonstrated ability to manage projects from analysis through deployment and support.
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
- Experience in providing training and support to end-users.
- Ability to develop user documentation and training materials.
- Relevant certifications in sustainability, data management, or software configuration are a plus (e.g., Certified Sustainability Professional, LEED Green Associate, LEED AP).
- Strong skill sets in communication, training, and supporting quality function with day-to-day business processes.
- Candidate should have experience to Production Support/Roll-out projects and should be good at working with geographically spread team.
- Excellent sense of service, responsibility, and good teamwork spirit.
- Experience working in a fast-paced, changing environment dealing with both internal and external customers, including cross-functional teams.
