This is a hybrid position. You’ll divide your time between working remotely from your home and an office, so you should live within commuting distance. Hybrid teams may work in-office as much as a few times a week or as little as once a month or quarter, as decided by leadership. Join GoDaddy Capital, a team building technology that helps merchants access funding to grow and manage their businesses. GoDaddy Capital enables eligible GoDaddy merchants to access fast and flexible funding, with offers and funding managed through the GoDaddy Commerce experience.
As a Software Engineer, you’ll work with expert engineers, product, and operations teams to build and maintain the services that power the Capital experience. You’ll primarily work with Node.js and NestJS, with opportunities to contribute to React-based applications as well.
You’ll also get hands-on exposure to Kafka, AWS, Redis, MySQL/NoSQL databases, APIs, and AI-assisted development tools while working on systems that support merchant onboarding, funding, underwriting, and partner integrations.
This is a great opportunity for an early-career engineer who enjoys solving problems, wants to learn from experienced engineers, and is excited to build software that directly supports small and growing businesses.

What you'll get to do...

• Develop, test, and maintain backend services using JavaScript runtime environments and the NestJS framework, building and integrating REST APIs that power GoDaddy Capital and external partner platforms.
• Work within a distributed architecture by using Kafka for event-driven communication, Redis for caching, and databases that include both structured and unstructured data storage. Contribute to React frontend development as needed.
• Build and support cloud-native solutions on AWS using services such as ECS, S3, Lambda, and WAF, ensuring reliability, scalability, and secure application delivery.
• Follow engineering methods through code reviews, unit testing, fixing issues, production support, and on-call participation, while actively contributing to technical discussions and build sessions alongside senior engineers.
• Collaborate with engineering, product, operations, and external partners to deliver funding solutions, support partner integrations, and effectively apply AI-enhanced development platforms to improve efficiency and software delivery.

Your experience should include...

• 1.5+ years of software development experience with hands-on expertise in Node.js, strong proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript, and familiarity with NestJS or similar backend frameworks.
• Experience building and consuming REST APIs, with a foundational understanding of Kafka, event-driven architectures, and modern distributed application development.
• Proven understanding of relational and non-relational databases. Experience with Redis.
• Proficient comprehension of software engineering fundamentals, including unit testing, debugging, Git, and code reviews.
• Basic understanding of cloud technologies, preferably AWS.
• Familiarity with AI coding assistants and AI-assisted development tools.
• Strong problem-solving, communication, collaboration, and learning agility, with the ability to work effectively in team environments and contribute to engineering initiatives.

You might also have...

• Hands-on experience with React.
• Experience working with AWS offerings including Elastic Container Service, Simple Storage Service, serverless functions, and application firewall.
• Exposure to asynchronous processing or event-driven systems.
• Experience integrating with external APIs or third-party services.
• Exposure to FinTech, payments, lending, underwriting, or risk domains.
