Profile Description

We’re seeking a self-motivated, technically strong engineer who enjoys working across the full stack. You’ll design, implement, and maintain microservices and front-end modules and libraries that interact through a unified API gateway. The ideal candidate writes maintainable, scalable code and thinks ahead to build flexible, reusable systems. The role is responsible for the design, development and delivery of software tools and process automations for service teams across Workforce Technology & Services (WTS). The candidate will be involved in all phases of software development lifecycle and will collaborate with other squad members to deliver measurable value to our stakeholders.

Enterprise Technology

Enterprise Technology & Services (ETS) delivers shared technology services for Morgan Stanley supporting all business applications and end users. ETS provides capabilities for all stages of Morgan Stanley’s software development lifecycle, enabling productive coding, functional and integration testing, application releases, and ongoing monitoring and support for over 3,000 production applications. ETS also delivers all workplace technologies (desktop, mobile, voice, video, productivity, intranet/internet) in integrated configurations that boost the personal productivity of employees. Application and end user functions are delivered on a scalable, secure, and reliable infrastructure composed of seamlessly integrated datacenter, network, compute, cloud, storage, and database functions.

Workforce Technology & Services

Workforce Technology & Services Provides the Firm’s workforce with the technology, services and capabilities required to meet the needs of colleagues, partners and clients. This is Vice President position within the Production Management Automation Center of Excellence (CoE). The CoE provides tools and automation to reduce the risk and toil of production processes while increasing scalability and efficiency, ensuring seamless operations and user satisfaction across the organization.

This is a Lead Software Engineer, which is part of the job family responsible for developing and maintaining software solutions that support business needs.

What you’ll do in the role:

  • Develop and maintain backend services in Python and .NET

  • Work on API Gateway logic, authentication, and routing using Ocelot

  • Build and enhance Angular applications using modern UI libraries

  • Contribute to containerization, CI/CD pipelines, and deployments

  • Collaborate with peers, ensuring code quality and best practices

  • Integrate with authentication and data services using secure patterns

  • Participate in design discussions, sprint planning, and reviews

  • Explore opportunities to bring AI-assisted capabilities into the ecosystem

Technical Environment

  • Backend: Python, C#.NET, Asp.NET

  • Frontend: Angular, Angular Material, TailwindCSS, DaisyUI, HTML, CSS,  JS

  • Gateway: Ocelot

  • Authentication: OIDC-based mechanisms

  • Databases: MS SQL, MongoDB

  • DevOps: Jenkins, Docker

  • Scripting: PowerShell, Python

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • 10+ years of exp. with at least 6 years’ relevant experience would generally be expected to find the skills required for this role

  • 4+ years or more of software development experience

  • Strong foundation in Python microservices development

  • Solid knowledge of frontend frameworks, preferably Angular

  • Responsive UI design

  • Familiarity with containerization and CI/CD tools

  • Understanding of authentication/authorization mechanisms

  • Exposure to Message Queueing technologies such as Kafka/ PubSub

  • Hands on experience with Agile development (Scrum, Kanban)

  • Understanding SDLC and CI/CD processes

  • High level knowledge of Design Patterns

  • Development, and automated testing

ENHANCED SKILLS: 

  • Exposure to enterprise or IT operations environments

  • Hands on experience with Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery

  • SQL and Database Design
