Fullstack Contentful Architect

About the Role 

At Robots & Pencils, we build digital platforms that blend strategy, engineering, and experience design. We are seeking a Fullstack Contentful Content Architect to design and evolve structured content systems supporting a unified digital ecosystem spanning web, mobile, and kiosk experiences. 

In this role, you’ll partner closely with engineering, UX, product, and platform teams to create scalable content models, governance frameworks, workflows, and multi-environment architectural standards. You’ll ensure Contentful becomes a flexible and reliable foundation supporting personalized guest journeys, real-time itinerary logic, and seamless end-to-end experiences. 

This role is ideal for someone who thrives at the intersection of content systems, product architecture, and technical implementation—and who enjoys shaping structured digital ecosystems that evolve and scale over time. 

Key Responsibilities 

Content Modeling & Structured System Architecture 

• Design modular, scalable, future-proof content models aligned to front-end rendering patterns and platform needs. 

• Define localization strategies, taxonomy patterns, approval workflows, governance rules, and editorial roles. 

• Ensure alignment between schema evolution, product roadmap, and platform growth. 

Editorial Workflow Design & Experience Enablement 

• Collaborate with UX and product teams to ensure the authoring environment is intuitive, maintainable, and supports real-time preview needs. 

• Configure validation rules, automation, and extensions to optimize editorial productivity and accuracy. 

• Lead training, workshops, and documentation for content governance and best practices. 

Integration & Platform Collaboration 

• Partner with engineers to align data modeling with API schemas, rendering logic, and deployment workflows. 

• Validate Contentful-based structures in the context of headless front-end development (Next.js/Vercel) and middleware integrations (MuleSoft). 

• Participate in QA and implementation cycles to validate data integrity, content readiness, and rendering fidelity. 

Governance, Documentation & Continuous Refinement 

• Create and maintain documentation for patterns, naming conventions, workflows, and lifecycle rules. 

• Audit content structure health and implement refinement strategies based on usage patterns and platform evolution. 

• Help establish reusable content frameworks, enabling sustainable growth across product surfaces. 

Required Skills & Experience 

• 5+ years of structured content or headless CMS experience (Contentful strongly preferred). 

• Experience designing schemas, workflows, governance frameworks, and multi-environment publishing models. 

• Familiarity with REST/GraphQL APIs, content deployment scripts, and CI/CD integration considerations. 

• Experience collaborating with engineering, UX, and product teams delivering large-scale digital platforms. 

Travel Requirements: Occasional, based on workshops or collaboration needs
